Story By: BARRY ANGSTADT / ACTION TRACK USA – KUTZTOWN, PA – You could describe two of Wednesday night’s winners as “Air B&B”…because they were flying around the clay playground known as ActionTrack USA on the Kutztown Fairgrounds.

Bobby Butler (All Pro SpeedSTRs) and Adam Buchel (Hyper Racing 600 Sprints) registered their first career wins at Berks County’s Baddest Bullring on East Penn Manufacturing Night.

Dave Carraghan won his second consecutive feature–and third of the season–in the All Star Slingshots 20 lapper while Lilly Esterly notched her second Action Track USA Junior Slingshot main of 2025.

This week is the annual Kutztown Fair, and Fair Week means lots of motorized mayhem at Action Track USA, with four nights of high speed adventure on the progressively-banked oval.

Tuesday night is the Slingshot Fair Nationals. It’s the first night of Slingshot Speedweek for both the All Star and Junior Slingers. They will be joined by the East Coast Legend Series, the Xcel 600 Modifieds, and Vintage Modifieds.

On Wednesday, it’s excitement to the max, as the Xtreme Outlaw Midgets, presented by Toyota, return to spray some clay at Action Track USA. Also on the menu is the 600 Sprint non-wing Fair Nationals, as the Hyper Racing 600’s go 50 frantic laps in their main event.

Friday, August 8, will be a real wing-ding as the 600 Sprints bolt wings on top of their roll cages. Also on the card will be winged 270 micro sprints, plus the All Star and Junior Slingshots in another Slinger Speedweek event.

Saturday, August 9, on the final night of the Kutztown Fair, it’s the Mark Naftzinger/ Daniel Boone 153 stock car race for Enduro-style race cars.

Cars will be on the track at 6:15 each night, except for Saturday when the race begins at 6:30 p.m.

Last Wednesday, in the 30 lap All Pro SpeedSTR main, Sammy Martz Jr. set the pace early on as fifth-starting Tim Buckwalter and eight-starting Bobby Butler were on the move during the first half of the race.

Buckwalter finally wrestled the runner-up spot from a game Danny Lane on the ninth circuit, with Butler snatching third from Lane four tours later. The race went clean and green until Dan Schumaker flipped to bring out a red flag with 14 complete.

Buckwalter grabbed the lead from Martz, blasting off the inside of turn four on lap 16. Martz slowed and stopped on the track to force a yellow with ten trips remaining, and Butler stormed past Buckwalter to take the number one spot on the restart.

Cole Stangle, who won the past two SpeedSTR features, joined the fun during the final one-third of the 30 lapper, making it a three-car scuffle for the win along with Butler and Buckwalter. With two to go, Stangle cleared Buckwalter for second and set sail after Butler. But the driver from Milford, NJ and his No. 04 SpeedSTR were too much, scoring the well deserved and popular victory by just 0.357 seconds over Stangle. Buckwalter settled for third with Matt Janisch and the impressive Lane completing the top five.

“We’ve worked so hard to find speed in this thing,” said Butler in victory lane. “My dad has been so great, telling me to go get whatever we need and we finally have the car where we need it to be. I love driving race cars and working on them, and to be here (in the winner’s circle) is just awesome.”

Bloomsbury, NJ’s Adam Buchel started on the pole of the Hyper Racing 600 Sprint feature, but his path to victory was anything but easy. Even though he led all 25 laps, he had to fend off the challenges of his GJ Oliver Racing teammate, Danny Buccafusca, for several circuits before Kyle Lick moved into contention and began to harrass Buccafusca for second.

Lick hounded Buccafusca for ten revolutions before eventually securing the runner-up spot with four to go. He closed to within a few car lengths of Buchel, but Adam would not be rattled, winning his first race at Action Track USA by nearly one second over Lick. Buccafusca scored his second straight third place finish with Weston Doklan recording his best-ever 600 Sprint finish with a fourth place effort. Connor Gross crossed the line in fifth.

Emmaus, PA’s Dave Carraghan battled early leader Tyler Ulsh in the All Star Slingshot main. On the 13th trip around the clay, Carraghan finally muscled his way past Ulsh for a lead he would not relinquish over the final seven tours.. Matthew Laubach finish second, followed by Brett Bieber, Daniel Betz, and Patrick Weiss.

Lilly Esterly, from Reading, outgunned pole sitter and the previous week’s winner, Billy Pauch III, on the start of the Junior Slingshot 15 lap feature. She went on to lead all the way in the green-to-checkered, non-stop race. Mason Noll chased Esterly to the stripe with point leader Hannah Kormann placing third. Preston Trautshold wound up fourth and Pauch rounded out the top five.
