Column By: CURTIS BERLEUE / EMPIRE SUPER SPRINTS – GRANBY, QC The month of August is winding down, and that can only mean one thing for the Empire Super Sprints: a trip north of the border to Quebec. This weekend, the touring 360 sprint cars will make their way to Autodrome Granby in Granby, QC on Friday, followed by Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, QC on Saturday.

An enhanced purse structure for this weekend has been published, making both events $3,000 to win and $500 to start. Tow money has also been made available, paying $500 per eligible tour regular per night and $350 for all other drivers.  The event Friday night will also be a special 28 laps, as Granby honors all time ESS win leader (77) and eight-time champion (tied for first) Steve Poirier.
In last years trip to Quebec, it was two-time champion Jason Barney who picked up the win at Granby, and another two-time champion Jordan Poirier who picked up the win at Drummond. With the extra money on the line, a stout field of drivers has already committed to this weekend’s trip north.
Atop the point standings, Jordan Poirier currently leads Dylan Swiernik, having amassed four wins and 16 top tens thus far in 2025.  Third belongs to Davie Franek, with Jason Barney and Shawn Donath rounding out the top five.
