Racing and Community Spirit Shine at Lake View Motor Speedway
Story By: Charles Wisler / LAKE VIEW MOTOR SPEEDWAY- NICHOLS, SC- Despite a 50% chance of rain, Lake View Motor Speedway successfully hosted a thrilling night of racing on Saturday, with Mother Nature cooperating to keep the track clear and dry. The event was not just about the roar of engines but also a testament to the track’s commitment to its community and the next generation of racers.
In a special “Back to School Night” initiative, the Jackson Winkeler Foundation generously provided backpacks and school supplies to children at the venue, helping to prepare them for the upcoming school year. The foundation’s ongoing dedication to youth racing was also on display, as several children from the grandstands and pits were given the unique opportunity to try out “juicebox race cars” on the track.
The night featured seven classes of racing, each providing its own dose of excitement. The INEX Legends kicked things off with a clean race. Tyler Sealey took the victory, fending off constant pressure from Tristen Stephenson and Austin Neighbors. A moment of concern arose when Cody Gorman’s #8 caught fire, but his quick actions minimized the blaze before track officials arrived.
The NE Sportsman Modifieds saw JJ Williams overcome a poor qualifying run. After drawing the pole position, Williams capitalized, leading the feature from start to finish to secure his second victory of the season.
In the Late Model feature, Christian Thomas widened his narrow points lead with a dominant performance. He was initially challenged by Dustin Mitchell and Shaun Harrell but used lapped traffic to his advantage, pulling away to claim the $2,500 prize.
The Stock V8 feature was a caution-filled affair. Chuckie Nicholson navigated the chaos to take the win, extending his lead in the division standings. The race was a setback for Tom Lovett, who was running third in points but experienced car issues, preventing him from closing the gap on Nicholson.
Jake Johnson dominated the Crown Vic feature, taking the lead after an early spin by Richard Seals sent him to the back of the pack. The Carolina Outlaw Super Street Series was also in the house, where Benji Thompson added another victory to his 2025 campaign, his fifth with the series this season.
The Street Stocks closed out the night with a thrilling feature marked by several multi-car wrecks. Andrew Durham emerged victorious, while Terry Caples finished in second, another top-five finish that further solidifies his points lead for the 2025 season.
