Ross Perchak Rolls to 270 Time Trial Series Triumph at the Linda’s Speedway

Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – On a night where the Linda’s Speedway “Living Legends Club” welcomed a new member to the fraternity in the form of multi-time track champion and National Open winner Mike Rutherford, one of the members of that exclusive group parked their machine in a familiar place when the dust settled at the end of Friday’s Skeet Craft Collision 270 Time Trial Series event. Former track champion and seven-time National Open winner Ross Perchak made it a clean sweep of the evening to score his first win at the quarter-mile since winning his own “Living Legends” night last October.

While Perchak scored quick time among the 31 entries, won his heat race, and led every lap on the way to the feature win, the No. 4 was never out of the clutches of Cory Myers, who was still searching for that elusive first Linda’s victory. Perchak’s advantage never rose to more than about three car lengths, and the gap tightened up several times as the Hazleton native worked through lapped traffic.

In a renewal of a battle from the closing laps of the 2021 National Open, Myers didn’t blow up on this occasion, but wasn’t able to find a way past the dominant Perchak. By just 0.210 seconds, Perchak claimed the victory in the final Time Trial Series event until October. Myers settled as the bridesmaid once again, and Chase Walker rounded out the podium with a fantastic run to third.

After the race, Perchak paid his respects in victory lane to Rutherford, as the two drivers had often competed for victories around the Jonestown quarter-mile. Rutherford didn’t compete as a driver on Friday night, but did field a car instead for Billy Logeman. Logeman was running in the sixth position in the A-Main before being forced to pull off four laps from the finish.

In Hoosier Tire Winged 600 Micro Sprint competition, a driver who could very well be a future “Living Legend” at the Linda’s Speedway made a return trip to the winner’s circle that was nearly a quarter-century in the making. Jonestown’s Scott Lutz dominated Friday night’s action and scored his first win at the quarter-mile since 2001, when Lutz was a champion in the Pro Stock division at the speedway. Since then, Lutz has competed at many different tracks and in many different types of cars. But after 24 years, the drought at Linda’s finally came to an end for the No. 33.

The Xcel 600 Modifieds put on another thrilling show in their first of three straight weeks of racing. For the first time in 2025, the Modifieds saw a repeat winner, as Richie Hitzler came out on top of an enthralling three-car fight for the win. Hitzler took the lead from Kenny Harris on lap 9, and then denied Dylan Cordier a chance at back-to-back wins, holding on for career win No. 51 at the speedway.

The Bernheisel Race Components Chargers A-Main saw a return to victory lane for defending track champion Chris Warren, as he led all 15 laps to become the third Kimmel Racing driver to win in 2025. In the process, Warren headed up a Kimmel Racing 1-2-3 finish, as Eric Hollenbach and Chucky Kimmel completed the podium.

Linda’s Speedway returns next Friday, Aug. 22 with a jam-packed night of racing.

The Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprints will contest a doubleheader, with their makeup feature from July 25 in addition to a complete regular show. Also in action will be the Xcel 600 Modifieds, the GP Motorsports Front Wheel Drive Cars, the PA Micro Midgets, and the final appearance of the year for the East Coast Legends.
