Column By: TOBY LAGRANGE / RPW – MALTA, NY – If you attended the Albany-Saratoga Speedway for the first time this past Friday night, then you learned something that those of us who call or who have called the track home know very well…The Great Race Place nickname is very much earned.

This past Friday night was another one full of great racing along Route 9. By now you know the results, so I will not rehash them. I do want to offer a big congratulations to all of the feature winners Friday night.

Those winners include Mike Mahaney (DIRTcar Modified), Taylor Wason (DIRTcar Sportsman), Kim Duell (DIRTcar Pro Stock), Jordan Hill (Limited Sportsman), P.J. Cram (Street Stock) and Dillon Paddock (CRSA Sprint Cars). You can find the victory lane celebrations for Mahaney, Wason, Duell, Hill and Paddock on the Race Pro Weekly YouTube and Facebook pages.

It’s always great to be back at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway. I will be back for all four events in the month of September – The Autism Awareness Event (5th), The John Grady Memorial (12th) and the Malta Massive Weekend (19th and 20th). Of course, I will be representing Race Pro Weekly for all of those events, providing video coverage, interviews and written coverage.

Friday night I was able to speak to the winner of the 20 lap Limited Sportsman division feature event – Jordan Hill following her victory lane celebration. The 24-year-old from Warrensburg, New York picked up her first win of the 2025 season at the track. The win was also her fourth top five and seventh top ten finish of the season at the Malta speedway.

“Throughout the whole season we have had a few close calls”, Hill said. “I either make the wrong call, or I mess up when I am leading.”

Prior to racing Friday night, Hill and crew made some adjustments which turned out to be the right ones needed to put the number 51 machine in victory lane.

“Tonight, I had a few concerns with the car,” Jordan said. “We adjusted it from the beginning and then went out for the heat race and knew exactly what to do.”

Hill started inside the second row for the 20-lap feature event and early on she knew that they had hit the setup.

“We started third and I could feel on the second lap that the car was coming out of the corners perfectly. From there I knew it was our race. I just had to get around a couple of cars”.

A few caution periods slowed the pace of the final quarter of the event. Hill did not let the restarts or the pressure force her into a mistake.

“I always have to prepare for them (cautions),” Hill said. “It always seems to happen when there’s only a few laps left, and I have a good lead. I just told myself that I have to relax and don’t step on it.”

With the win, Hill sits third in the season long point standings, she trails championship leader Bodie Marks by 114 points and second place Nick Arnold by 58 points.

To view the full interview, which includes her victory lane celebration, please head on over to the Race Pro Weekly Facebook and YouTube pages. Be sure to check out the other videos from Friday night as well.

Hill, along with the remainder of the Limited Sportsman division will compete in their highest paying event in memory this Friday night at Albany-Saratoga. The division will race a 35-lap feature event paying $3,000 to win. The race is open to any current Limited Sportsman division driver from any track; however, Albany-Saratoga Speedway rules will apply.

This event was made possible by many sponsors, including: JCO Plumbing and Heating, Sabco Performance, Pollard Outdoors, Blue Spade Landscaping, Lindell Fuels, Whitetail Landscaping, and Jacquier Welding.

For more information on this event be sure to check out the Albany-Saratoga Speedway social media pages and their website. If you plan on competing, please be sure to check out the tracks division rules.

As always, please support those that support racing.
