RPW Exclusive: Lake View Motor Speedway Heats Up with High-Stakes Racing
Column By: CHARLES WISLER / RPW – NICHOLS, SC – The roar of engines and the flash of fireworks lit up the night at Lake View Motor Speedway as it hosted the seventh annual Larry Long Memorial and Fan Appreciation Night. The packed grandstands were treated to a night of high-octane action, with drivers battling for big wins and valuable points.
The main event saw Dustin Mitchell dominate the Late Model feature, leading from start to finish to secure the $2,500 payday. After a heartfelt four-wide salute to the fans, complete with a stunning fireworks display, the green flag dropped, and Mitchell never looked back. While Mitchell led the charge, Dan Breuer put on a master class in race craft, climbing nine positions from 12th to earn a third-place spot on the podium.
The night’s festivities weren’t just about the race itself. Before the Late Model feature, drivers brought their cars to the front stretch for a special meet-and-greet. Fans, young and old, had the chance to get up close with their favorite racers, collecting autographs and snapping photos in a true celebration of motorsports fandom.
In the INEX Legends class, it was a battle of skill and patience that saw Tyler Sealey clinch his second victory of the season. Starting on the pole, Sealey lost the lead early to Caleb Day. What followed was a thrilling exchange as Sealey meticulously reeled in Day, attempting a daring slide job. Though Day initially fought him off, Sealey’s second attempt was successful, allowing him to take the lead and power to the checkered flag. Sealey’s win was made even more memorable as he celebrated in victory lane with a few young fans, sharing the excitement of his hard-earned triumph.
The night featured thrilling races across all divisions. In the NE Sportsman Modifieds, Jeff Tiley showcased his expertise by navigating lapped traffic and a late-race caution to take a flag-to-flag victory, extending his points lead. Jake Johnson proved unstoppable in the Crown Vic class, securing his fourth win of the season, while a determined Seals finished fourth after overcoming an early tire issue.
The Vintage, Bell & Bell Modifieds saw Fulwood take the lead from the start, leaving the competition behind as he raced to victory. Cameron Holloway led the Heritage Signs Street Stocks from wire to wire, but the battle for the championship tightened significantly, with only 20 points now separating the top three drivers. Finally, the Fred’s Tire & Auto Stock V8s had a chaotic feature that ended with Cameron Bosworth being awarded the win after the initial victor, Aiden Autry, was disqualified during the post-race inspection. The win helps Bosworth close the gap in the points race.
