Seth Whitney Bounces Back to Sweep Weedsport Kartway’s Short Port Shootout

Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / WEEDSPORT SPTTEDWAY – WEEDSPORT, NY – After more than three months of down time, Weedsport Kartway roared back to life on Sunday afternoon with Seth Whitney dominating the day with a total of three victories and more than $1,150 in prize money.

Despite being second on the kartway’s overall win list, Whitney had not scored a PRO victory at Weedsport in 2025. That changed on Sunday as Whitney scored the PRP Fast Time bonus of $100 and then led every lap of the 30-lap PRO Clone 375 main for another $1,000 victory. Trent Smith and Tanner Emmons chased Whitney to the finish, with Riley Begy and Matthew Barry filling the top five.

Whitney also scored points victories in both Clone Light and Clone Heavy, to give himself 31 career senior wins at Weedsport. The driver of the No. 505 now trails all-time wins leader Jared John by just three victories.

Emmons would finish second to Whitney in both Light and Heavy, while Begy placed third in Light with Smith taking third in Heavy.

Aside from his two other podium finishes on the day, Trent Smith also kept his streak alive in Clone Super Heavy topping Nick McGill and Dana Hugg in the 25-lap main.

A spirited battle in Jr. Red Clone saw Cole Pike take the victory over Brantley Smith, to score his first ever Weedsport victory. Clark McGruder tallied from the tail of the field to take third ahead of Julian Gamble and Harloe Russell.

Mason Simmons made his first start at Weedsport in 2025 and promptly drove to Victory Lane in Jr. Green Clone over Jackson Knight and Lily Walters. Knight would then bounce back in the PRO main event to score the win over Walters and Eli Reid. Both wins were first career Weedsport triumphs.

Ryan Barry swept the day in Jr. Purple Clone, winning both the points and PRO main events. Barry now has 10 career wins at Weedsport in his No. 50. Jack Reid and Laina Stewart took the podium in PRO with Stewart and Micheal Hugg taking top three spots in points.

Blue Clone would also see a sweep as Parker Allen bested all competition in his No. 20 for both points and PRO mains. Allen now moves to a tie for second on the all-time Jr. win list with Joey Surman, at 14 wins. Timmy Axton and Savannah Simmons found the podium in both main events.

Rookie Red Clone saw another first-time winner, as Brantley Waldron topped the field in the 10-lap main event. Bryce Bartlett, making his first Weedsport start, took second ahead of Kingsley Gould, Evan Saunder and Chase Russell.

Weedsport Kartway’s next event will take place on Sunday, September 14. All points classes will again be in action, as well as Jr. PRO, Rookie Red, a $1,000 to win PRO Clone 375 main and the $1,222 to win PRO Clone Super Heavy James Shutts Memorial.
