Dayton Brewer Gets Redemption With 2nd Modified Win At Woodhull Raceway.

Column By: Joe Cook / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY  Dayton Brewer showed up to the Woodhull Raceway looking for redemption. Two weeks ago, Brewer’s night ended early when he hurt the power plant under the hood after just one lap. Last week, he broke the rear end without completing a lap. With one lap under his belt in the past two weeks, it is safe to say lady luck was bound to turn around. Boy did it. Brewer was able to drive away with a heat race win earlier in the night, a sign of things to come in the feature event. He then was able to secure the number two starting spot after a successful redraw.

Brewer rocketed off the line, quickly taking over the lead. The yellow flag reared its head for the only time on lap three, bunching the field back together. Brewer was once again able to hold off all competitors on the restart.  He navigated lap traffic successfully and went on to pick up his second win of the season. While Brewer was driving away with the feature win, a great battle ensued for second, third, and fourth. It was Brady Fultz coming home in the runner-up spot with third going to Ron Cartwright. Jake Dgien finished fourth with last week’s feature winner, Russell Morseman rounding out the top.

The next feature event was the Hometown Excavation Crate Sportsman with Glenn Trowbridge taking command in the early going. Isabel Brown was able to motor past Trowbridge on lap seven and take over the top spot as she then opened a sizeable lead over the rest of the field. However, the caution lights were flipped on lap 13, bunching the field back together.

Brown was able to prove strong on the restarts, holding off the other competitors and visiting victory lane for the third time this season. Tim Guild finished second and with a solid third place run, Kenny Peoples Jr, locked up the track championship with one week remaining.

Fourth place went to Cayden Lawson. Quintin Buchanan completed the top five.

Up next on the High Banked One-Third of a Mile Clay Oval it was the Wicked Tees Quad-C as they found their way to the track for their $1000 to win event.

Chris Woodard started up front, and he stayed there the entire distance as he proved to be the class of the field dealing with multiple restarts. No one had anything for the Woodard machine as he picked up his second win of the season.

The runner up spot went to Willy Easling. Nick Brown and Preston Cobb finished third and fourth, respectively.

Rounding out the top 5 was the winner of the Dave Kline Memorial Dash for Cash earlier in the night and newly crowned 2025 Track Champion, Blake Snyder.

John Waters returned to the Woodhull Raceway after several months away put a whooping on the field. Waters started up front and showed everyone that when he comes to Woodhull, he is the man to beat.

The caution lights flied at lap 18, presenting an opportunity for his teammate Steve Lebarron, but Lebarron could not capitalize as Waters would go on to claim his second feature of 2025.

Lebarron had to settled for second with Brett Marlatt completing the podium.

McKean County Speedway Promoter, Kurt Stebbins made a rare Woodhull appearance and claimed fourth with Jacob Wilber completing the top 5.

Yellow fever plagued the Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks twenty-lap feature early on and after numerous cautions, Brian Butler and Teddy Morseman found themselves battling for the lead.

Butler and Morseman put on a great show for the fans in attendance battling side by side lap after lap for the race lead. Eventually Butler would take advantage and picked up his second win of the year.

Glenn Whritenour was able to get around Morseman to finish second with Morseman having to settle for third and in the process locking up the 2025 Street Stock Track championship. Fourth and fifth went to Drew Whritenour and Bradly Morseman.

The final adult feature of the evening was the Ladd Rd. Auto Hobby Stocks.

When Brandon Conklin starts up front he is almost impossible to pass. That proved to be the case this past Saturday night and with a multitude of cautions littered throughout the race it did not deter Conklin, as we was able to hold off his fellow competitors and picked up his seventh win of the season.

With the victory, Conklin locked up his second consecutive track championship in the division as well.

The Southern Tier Customs driver of the week, Brian Austin, was able to drive to the runner up spot after last week’s feature win and rounding out the podium was Dillon Phillip.

Fourth went to Jason Warner and rounding out the top five was Scott Brown.

Earlier in the night, the Wicked Tees Youth Warriors went to the track for their ten-lap feature event. Cadin Thomas and Bella Morseman made up the front row. Current point leader, Bella Morseman was able to hold off Thomas for the entire ten laps and pick up her seventh win of the year.

Cadin Thomas finished second with third going to Layla Houghtaling. Completing the field was Chace Warner.

Before intermission, the Classics on Dirt Stock Car Club ran their twenty- lap feature event. The cars from yesteryear put on a great show for the fans across three different divisions. Ultimately, picking up the win in the Modified Division was Penn Yan’s, Tim Sebring.

Mike Jacobs went on to win the Sportsman Division, and winner of the Vintage Class was local favorite, Rocket Roger Williams.

Congratulations to all competitors.

A big thank you to All Bark No Bite Logging, Westfield Beverage, S&D Pools Specialists, and Big T Processing for being the presenting sponsors Saturday night.

Next up at the Woodhull Raceway is Season Championship night on September 6th where the remainder of the 2025 Class Champions will be crowned.
