Column: Super DIRTcar Series Begins 2026 Title Chase With Delaware Diamond at Georgetown
Column By: MIKE WARREN / SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES – GEORGETOWN, DE – With the annual trip to Florida complete, the road to the 2026 Super DIRTcar Series championship officially begins next month.
The Beasts of the Northeast will make its first of two stops this season at Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, DE, on Saturday, March 28, for the Delaware Diamond. Not only is it the first of two stops in the “First State,” but it’s also the start of a nine-month journey to Charlotte and the World of Outlaws World Finals, where the 2026 Series champion will be crowned.
Alex Payne found Victory Lane at Georgetown last November during the Series’ first visit to the track since 2008, outdueling Tim Sears Jr. in the final laps to earn his then third-career Super DIRTcar Series victory. However, while Payne has the upper hand with that victory, three-time and defending Series champion Mat Williamson has momentum after earning his third Big Gator trophy during Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals.
Williamson is also one of four different drivers who’ve won the championship season opener in the last four seasons, along with Stewart Friesen (2025), Anthony Perrego (2024), and Ryan Godown (2023).
Joining the Super DIRTcar Series at Georgetown will be the track’s Sportsman, Delmarva Charger, Delaware Super Truck, and Little Lincoln divisions.
