Heavy Rain Combined With Cold Temperatures Postpone Delaware Diamond 50 at Georgetown
Column By: Mike Warren / SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES – GEORGETOWN, DE – With weather models showing heavy continuous rain in Georgetown, DE on Friday, and cold temperatures on Saturday hindering the track drying process and leading to unfavorable racing conditions, Super DIRTcar Series and Georgetown Speedway officials have postponed the Delaware Diamond 50.
Series and track officials are searching for a viable date to reschedule the event.
The Super DIRTcar Series will continue its high-octane show on Saturday, April 11, at Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY, with the Thunder in the Thousand Islands. That event is part of the track’s doubleheader weekend. The DIRTcar 358 Modified Series will open its season on Friday, April 10, and the DIRTcar Sportsman Series will join the Beasts of the Northeast on Saturday, April 11.
Fresh off his third Super DIRTcar Series title, Mat Williamson will aim for a victory to kick off the championship season. However, trying to keep him out of Victory Lane is a stout group of Series competitors like Alex Yankowski, who won the R.D Hutchinson Memorial at Can-Am last September.
