Column By: Stephen Durham / RPW – WEST LEBANON, NY –  Each spring, there comes a time, where all race-fans, drivers, team owners, and track owners are just about ready for the first green flag of the season. With Lebanon Valley’s annual banquet this past weekend, what’s a better way then talking with the top 10 guys from the DIRTcar big block modified division.

It was a strong season for Kolby Schroder, picking up two wins in 2025, along with nine top 5s and 13 top 10s to his credit. Schroder would finish the season 23 points behind Andy Bachetti. Schroder would close the 2025 season out with a monumental win when the Super DIRTcar Series invaded late summer for Mr. DIRT Track USA, and Schroder would dominate it, leading the final 64 laps of the race.

Here is Kolby Schroder’s thoughts as we head into the new season.

Q: How do you feel the 2025 Season was?

Kolby Schroder: The 2025 season was pretty successful, but had some speed bumps throughout the season.”

Q: What’s new for this upcoming season with your team?

Kolby Schroder: We brought on some new sponsors, and put together a backup car for Lebanon Valley. We also upgraded our motor program.”

Q: What are your team’s expectations for 2026?

Kolby Schroder: We would like to get a few wins, and try to be in contention for the Championship at Lebanon Valley.”

Q: Thoughts on Fonda Speedway and Lebanon Valley working together in 2026?

Kolby Schroder: “I think overall it’s a positive, and I wish more race tracks would collaborate.”

Q: Thoughts on Lyle Devore and what he meant to the racing in the capital region

Kolby Schroder: He was a good man and will be greatly missed. He put in a tremendous effort to provide a good race track for fans and competitors.”

Q: What part of the 2026 season schedule are you most looking forward to?

Kolby Schroder: Mr. Dirt at Lebanon Valley so that we can try and defend our title as Mr. Dirt Track USA. Also, any of the longer races because that suits my style of driving best.”

Q: If you had to predict, who’d you think would be the 2026 champion?

Kolby Schroder: I predict Andy Bachetti, or whoever can beat  Andy haha.”

Lebanon Valley Speedway opens the gates for warm-ups April 4th, with opening night for the DIRTcar big block modifieds being April 25th.
