Mid-Atlantic Doubleheader Weekend for Hovis RUSH Late Model Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series at Georgetown & Winchester
COLUMN BY: Mike Leone / RUSH DIRT LATE MODEL SERIES – PULASKI, PA – The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Dirt Late Model Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series will try again to kick-off the 2026 season this weekend with a doubleheader in the Mid-Atlantic. Friday night (April 24) will be at Georgetown (DE) Speedway with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the “Melvin L. Joseph Memorial” live on FloRacing followed up on Saturday night at Winchester (VA) Speedway. Both events will pay $5,000 to-win!
For the first time in more than three years, the Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series returns to Sussex County, Delaware on Friday night where the Tour has made four appearances all-time at the Georgetown oval. The last visit occurred on April 13, 2023 when Max Blair was victorious. Blair also won in 2019, while other winners were Ross Robinson in 2018 and Kyle Hardy, who scored the win during his 2021 championship season.
Georgetown returned as a RUSH Late Model City Chevrolet Weekly Series track last season. Nick Davis captured the $1,000 RUSH Track Pack thanks to four victories. Davis already has one victory this season, which occurred on the April 3 opener.
On Saturday night, the Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Tour will make its first of two appearances of 2026 at Winchester’s high-banked red clay oval. The Tour has made nine appearances over the years at Winchester with six different winners. Logan Roberson, the 2022 Tour Champion, leads the way with three victories. Kyle Hardy is the only other repeat winner as he claimed the most recent visit on September 6, 2025. Other winners include Rick Singleton, Walker Arthur, Allen Brannon, and Charlie Sandercock, who scored the upset victory in 2023. The Canadian Sandercock is the only non-Virginia resident to win a Tour event at Winchester!
Winchester has already completed four RUSH Colussy Chevrolet Weekly Series events in 2026. Hardy won the first two events followed by fellow Virginia racers Devin Brannon and Davin Kaiser, who has won the Winchester Track Pack points each of the last two years. The average car count has been 20 cars.
“It’s exciting to return to Georgetown and coupled with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series,” expressed RUSH Director Vicki Emig. “We have to thank track owner Ken Adams for giving us the opportunity to compete alongside Lucas Oil. Ken has also stepped up to pay the $5,000 to-win purse, which will be the richest for Chevrolet Performance Late Models in the track’s history. We also have to thank Greg Gunter of Winchester Speedway for moving his event a week earlier to give racers the ability to race for $5,000 to-win on back-to-back nights in the Mid-Atlantic. Greg has been a huge supporter of RUSH as 2026 marks his 13th straight season hosting the RUSH Late Models weekly at his track. Greg’s Gunter’s Honey is the co-presenting sponsor of the Tour and he’s also owned and sponsored RUSH Late Model cars over the years.”
