Column By: Mike Warren / SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES – LAFARGEVILLE, NYWith heavy rain and snow over the past few days in LaFargeville, NY, leading to unfavorable track conditions at Can-Am Speedway, and weather models showing more rain and cold temperatures throughout the week, Super DIRTcar Series, DIRTcar Northeast, and track officials have canceled the Super DIRTcar Series portion of Thunder in the Thousand Islands weekend, and postponed the DIRTcar 358 Modified and DIRTcar Sportsman Series events.

The Super DIRTcar Series portion of the event will not be made up.

The DIRTcar 358 Modified Series will now race at Can-Am on Wednesday, July 1, as part of the track’s Pabst Shootout. The DIRTcar Sportsman Series North Region event moves to the track’s season opener on Friday, April 24.

For those who bought tickets for the weekend, visit Racecanam.com for more details.

The Beasts of the Northeast will continue its high-octane show at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY, for the 61st Season Opener on Friday, April 17.

Defending Series champion Mat Williamson begins his hunt for his fourth Super DIRTcar Series title at the “Great Race Place” next week. However, he’ll have to contend with 10-time Series champion Matt Sheppard, who won during Malta Massive Weekend last September. Those two former champions will battle Series stars who race at Albany-Saratoga weekly, like track champion Mike Mahaney, Jack Lehner, Felix Roy, Peter Britten, and Justin Stone.
