THE MONTH AHEAD: Four-Race May Slate By Delaware, Canada, New York Stops
COLUMN BY: Mike Warren – SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES – GEORGETOWN, DE – As the weather starts to get warmer in the Northeast, the Super DIRTcar Series prepares for May, featuring four races in 12 days.
The month kicks off with a mega-event at Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, DE, on Wednesday, May 13, with the World of Outlaws Late Models presented by DIRTvision. The Delaware Diamond Clash marks the only time these two Series’ race on the same card outside of Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals and the World of Outlaws World Finals.
After Georgetown, the Series heads to Canada for the first time in 2026 with a stop at Cornwall Motor Speedway in Long Sault, ON, for the Spring Shootout at Cornwall.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead:
Georgetown Speedway | Delaware Diamond 50 (May 13)
May’s first stop at Georgetown Speedway is an event fans won’t want to miss, with the Super DIRTcar Series and World of Outlaws Late Models colliding for an epic event.
The Beasts of the Northeast will battle in the Delaware Diamond 50 in the first of two stops at the “First State” facility in 2026.
Alex Payne found Victory Lane at Georgetown last November during the Series’ first visit to the track since 2008, outdueling Tim Sears Jr. in the final laps to earn his then third-career Super DIRTcar Series victory of the season.
Cornwall Motor Speedway | Spring Shootout at Cornwall (May 17)
Four days after the stop at Georgetown, the Super DIRTcar Series makes its first trip to Canada for a visit to Cornwall Motor Speedway. It’ll be the 27th time the Series has raced at the track, where Matt Sheppard has the chance to make history. If the 10-time champion wins the Spring Shootout at Cornwall, he’ll tie Brett Hearn for the most Series Feature wins at the 1/4-mile track (5).
Last season, Mario Clair upset the field in the O’Canada 100, beating Dalton Slack for his first career Series triumph.
Weedsport Speedway | Heroes Remembered (May 24)
A Memorial Day tradition continues at Weedsport Speedway with the Heroes Remembered kicking off a Memorial Day weekend doubleheader. The race is the first of three stops at the 3/8-mile facility in 2026.
NASCAR Trucks star Stewart Friesen has won three of the last four Series events at Weedsport, including a victory in last year’s Heroes Remembered. One of the contenders aiming for Victory Lane he’ll have to battle, though, is Peter Britten, who won last year’s SummerFAST opener.
Thunder Mountain Speedway | Natural 77 (May 25):
For the third straight season, the Super DIRTcar Series will honor Dale Planck in a battle at Thunder Mountain Speedway on Memorial Day. Jimmy Phelps scored the inaugural Natural 77 victory in 2024, before Sheppard led every lap to win last year’s event.
This year’s Natural 77 will be the Series third appearance at the 1/4-mile track.
