Rain Cancels Heroes Remembered at Weedsport
COLUMN BY: Mike Warren – SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES – WEEDSPORT, NY – With rain throughout the weekend at Weedsport Speedway, and weather models predicting more rain this evening, Super DIRTcar Series and track officials have canceled Sunday’s Heroes Remembered.
The decision was made in consultation with Precision Weather Service, prioritizing the best interest of race fans and teams.
Sunday’s event will not be made up, as Series and track officials could not find a viable date to reschedule.
The Beasts of the Northeast will now turn their attention to Monday, May 25, for a Memorial Day stop at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, NY, for the Natural 77.
Three-time and defending champion Mat Williamson leads the Super DIRTcar Series stars into Thunder Mountain, with Alex Yankowski chasing him in a narrow early-season points battle. They’ll have to fend off Jimmy Phelps and Matt Sheppard, who won the first two Natural 77’s at the 1/4-mile bullring.
