Wilcox Construction LLC presents CRSA Sprint Cars and Regular Divisions at Fonda this Saturday
COLUMN BY: Ron Szczerba – FONDA SPEEDWAY – FONDA, NY – After rain cancelled the Saturday, May 23 program at the “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway, attention now turns to this week’s event on May 30 when Wilcox Construction LLC presents the only appearance in 2026 by the A-Verdi Storage Containers CRSA Sprint Cars.
All regular divisions will also be in action including the Amsterdam Truck Center Modifieds, Swagger Factory Apparel Sportsman, Leatherstocking Credit Union Pro Stocks, Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. Limited Sportsman and Fonda Fair Four Cylinders.
The CRSA Sprint Cars will compete in round number one of the I-90 Pit Stop Challenge at the Track of Champions this Saturday.
Due to the extremely wet spring, the CRSA Sprint Cars have only completed one single event so far in 2026 at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y. back on May 8. Mikey Smith led the event flag to flag on his way to his second career win.
The CRSA Sprints did not compete at the Fonda Speedway in 2025 after being rained out on 5/31 of last year. The last time the CRSA Sprints raced at Fonda was back on 7/27/2024 when Jordan Hutton won the event.
Saturday will mark the 31st time the CRSA 305 Sprints have pushed off at Fonda, with its first ever event run back in 2009. In the 30 previous events held there have been 14 different winning drivers led by Mike Kiser, local favorite Danny Varin, and Jordan Hutton who all have four CRSA wins apiece at Fonda.
Josh Pieniazek, Cory Sparks, and Jeff Trombley all have three CRSA victories apiece at Fonda while Kyle Smith is a two time winner at the “Track of Champions.” Dylan Swiernik, John Matrafailo, Tyler Rice, Jordan Thomas, Brett Jaycox, Josh Flint, and Tomy Moreau all have one CRSA 305 Sprint victory apiece at Fonda.
The Fonda Speedway Kid’s Club will also hold a Junior Flagging class this Saturday with Fonda Speedway starter Joe Kriss! Kid’s signed up for the class are asked to be at the Kid’s Club location at the fourth turn end of the covered grandstands at gate two at 3:50 P.M.
It will also be “Bike Night” for the Fonda Speedway Kids Club this Saturday, May 30 and anyone that would like to donate a bike can message the Fonda Speedway Kids Club on Facebook or drop it off on Saturday at the fourth turn end of the covered grandstands at gate two.
If you are a race fan that gets to the track early, be sure to check out the history of the Fonda Speedway at the Fonda Speedway Museum & Hall of Fame which is located on the Fonda Fairgrounds at the rear of the parking area going down towards turn four. The museum is open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on race days and admission is free!
Fonda Speedway weekly feature winners, their race teams, and sponsors are invited the following week to display their cars at the museum and watch their feature win on Flo before the races.
