Dunn Charges from 16th, Marsden Rallies from 11th as Fulton Speedway Delivers Exciting Night of Racing

COLUMN BY: Robert Kenney Jr. / FULTON SPEEDWAY – FULTON, NY  – Fans at Fulton Speedway were treated to an action-packed night of racing as Ferris Mowers and Trux Outfitter presented a full program featuring the Tracey Road DIRTcar Modifieds, Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman, Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Stock Cars, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman, the $500-to-win RL Cleaning 4-Cylinder Open, and Kid’s Power Wheel races.

The evening’s feature action began with the Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Stock Cars, where Russ Marsden put together an impressive drive through the field. Starting 11th, Marsden steadily worked his way toward the front before taking control and racing to victory in the 20-lap feature.

The headline event of the night, the Tracey Road DIRTcar Modifieds, saw another impressive charge through the field. Kyle Devendorf wasted no time taking command and jumping into the lead on the opening lap. Devendorf appeared headed for victory as he led the first 18 circuits, but Billy Dunn had other plans. After starting 16th on the grid, Dunn methodically picked off cars throughout the feature before catching Devendorf late in the race. Dunn made the winning move on lap 19 and led the remainder of the event to score a hard-earned victory.

The Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman feature belonged to Joe Trichilo. Starting from the pole position, Trichilo controlled the race from the outset and drove to his second consecutive victory of the weekend after also capturing Friday night’s feature at Brewerton Speedway. The win continued a strong stretch for Trichilo as he continues to build momentum early in the season.

The RL Cleaning 4-Cylinder Open feature saw Chris Bonoffski continue his winning ways. Bonoffski backed up his Brewerton Speedway victory from the previous night with another strong performance, earning the $500 winner’s prize and completing a weekend sweep between the two speedways.

In the E&V Energy Novice Sportsman feature, Mason Rogers found adversity early after being involved in an accident during the opening laps. Rogers brought his car to the pit area for repairs and rejoined the field as the race returned to green flag conditions. Nearly a half lap behind the leaders, Rogers mounted an incredible comeback, slicing through the field and ultimately charging all the way to a fifth-place finish.

At the front of the Novice Sportsman field, Matt Yorker put together a stellar drive of his own. Starting seventh, Yorker worked his way through traffic and took the lead en route to the feature victory.

The night also featured Kid’s Power Wheel races, providing plenty of smiles and excitement for the youngest Fulton Speedway fans.

Fulton Speedway returns next Saturday with another full night of high-speed action for the Rocket Tow presents the 4th annual Crazy Chain Race plus Tracey Road DIRTcar Modifieds, Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman, Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Stock Cars and E & V Energy Novice Sportsman.
