Fink Ends Early-Season Frustrations with Modified Victory at Brewerton Speedway

COLUMN BY: Robert Kenney Jr. / BREWERTON SPEEDWAY – CENTRAL SQUARE, NY  – Ferris Mowers and Schneider Packaging Family Autograph Night brought fans and racers together Friday night at Brewerton Speedway as hundreds of spectators packed the front stretch during intermission to collect autographs, meet their favorite drivers, and get an up-close look at the race cars before an exciting night of feature racing.

The Mirabito DIRTcar 4-Cylinders kicked off the feature action and produced one of the drives of the season. While the official lineup will show Chris Bonoffski starting eighth, he dropped to the rear of the field before the green flag. Undeterred, Bonoffski charged from 20th position through the field and closed in on leader Eric Rawley in the closing laps. With just a handful of laps remaining, Bonoffski made the winning pass and completed an impressive last-to-first run for his first Brewerton victory of the season.

The Tracey Road DIRTcar Modifieds saw Alan Fink turn around a frustrating start to 2026. After recording multiple finishes in the 20s through the opening weeks of the season, Fink put together his best performance of the year and parked his Modified in Victory Lane. The win was a rewarding breakthrough for the veteran racer and marked a much-needed boost to his season.

Joe Trichilo dominated much of the Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman feature. Trichilo built a commanding lead that at one point stretched to nearly five seconds over the field. Several caution flags erased his advantage, forcing him to survive multiple restarts against a hungry pack of challengers. Each time, Trichilo executed flawless restarts and maintained control of the race to secure the feature victory.

The AmeriCU Credit Union STARS Mod Lite feature featured a battle between Roger Olschewske and eventual winner Mike Mullen. Olschewske wasted little time charging from his sixth starting spot to the lead on the opening lap and looked poised to run away with it. However, Mullen, who started eighth, steadily reeled in the leader and eventually completed the pass for the top position.

A late-race restart gave Olschewske one final opportunity to challenge for the win. However, while battling for position he clipped one of the inside tractor tires, damaging the left-front suspension of his machine. Despite the damage, Olschewske held on to finish second while Mullen drove away to claim the victory.

With Family Autograph Night creating lasting memories for fans and four exciting feature events producing memorable performances on the track, Brewerton Speedway delivered another entertaining evening of racing action.
