Weikert Weekend on Tap at Port Royal Speedway This Saturday & Sunday

COLUMN BY: Brad Strawser / PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY – PORT ROYAL, PA  –One of the biggest weekends in dirt track racing has arrived as Port Royal Speedway prepares to host a spectacular two-day showcase featuring the rescheduled Greg Hodnett Classic on Saturday, July 25, followed by the thrilling conclusion of the Bob Weikert Memorial on Sunday, July 26 all with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing.

In addition to world-class racing, fans will find plenty to enjoy throughout the weekend with family-friendly activities, giveaways, live entertainment and special attractions honoring the legacy of Greg Hodnett and Bob Weikert.

Saturday, July 25 ($15K to win!)

Pit gates will open at 4:00 PM, with general admission gates opening at 4:30 PM.

Fans can enjoy the Weikert Vintage Cars display as well as race simulators in the Commercial Building from 4:30-7:00 PM. From 4:30-5:30 PM, fans will also have the opportunity to watch “Shooting the Bull” with Brad Strawser inside the Commercial Building where he will have different driver guests to discuss some of the biggest storylines coming into the weekend.

Fans will also be treated to the rescheduled fireworks display that was originally scheduled for July 4th. These will now take place between B-main and A-main events. This was originally a part of the America 250 celebrations on July 4th and presented by Port Royal Speedway Ministries thanks to many local businesses support.

The first 250 fans entering the speedway will receive a commemorative hat and cozie, while the Port Royal Speedway Ministries Fan Zone will raffle off 15 Kids Gift Bags for fans ages 17 and under. Each prize package includes a $100 Knoebels gift card, a $25 Subway gift card, a Weikert T-shirt and additional promotional items. This is all made possible thanks to Weikert’s Livestock and the Weikert family.

Fans can also enter a weekend-long raffle for a Blackstone Grill at the PRSM Fan Zone.

Race fans looking for an added challenge can test their skills on the Stealth Works Race Simulator, with proceeds benefiting the veteran-owned nonprofit organization that supports veterans battling PTSD.

Sunday, July 26 ($100K to win!)

Sunday’s Bob Weikert Memorial finale begins with Donuts to the Campers at 9:00 AM, courtesy of the Weikert family.

Pit gates open at 2:00 PM, with general admission gates opening at 2:30 PM.

The Port Royal Speedway Ministries Worship Service begins at 2:00 PM on the Free Stage and will feature special guest Mike Wagner of Wagner Motorsports, along with music from Jensyn Dillman.

The Weikert Vintage Cars and race simulators return to the Commercial Building from 2:30-7:00 PM, while fans can enjoy live pre-race music from Gravy before the racing action begins.

Sunday will also feature the always-popular High Limit Fan Fest, giving fans another opportunity to get up close with the stars of the High Limit Racing series before competition begins.

As on Saturday, the first 250 fans through the gates will receive commemorative hats and cozies, and the PRSM Fan Zone will again feature the Kids Gift Bag raffle and Blackstone Grill giveaway, with the grill winner being drawn during Sunday’s program.

A Weekend You Won’t Want to Miss

With $100,000 on the line Sunday, fireworks, fan activities, live music, worship service, vintage displays, giveaways and some of the best sprint car racing in the world, Port Royal Speedway is set to deliver an unforgettable weekend at The Speed Palace.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early each day to enjoy the full slate of activities before the racing begins and to be among the first 250 through the gates to receive one of the commemorative giveaways.
