Williamson Scores 6th Ransomville Win in 2026; Zimmerman, Pangrazio, Close and Flynn Grab Checkered Flags
COLUMN BY: Steve Petty / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – For the sixth time in 2026, “Money” Mat Willamson from St. Catharines, Ontario won the Krown Undercoating Modified feature as Niagara Metals and Coppins Service Center present the racing action at the Ransomville Speedway on Friday night. Brendan Zimmerman from Youngstown, NY won his first career Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman feature event. Josh Pangrazio from Oakfield, NY had a last lap pass to pick up his second KiPo Chevrolet Street Stock feature of the season. Brandon Close from Lockport, NY won his first Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stock feature. Jacob Flynn from Sanborn, NY won the J&D Tires and Service Novice Sportsman feature.
Scott Just and Jesse Cotriss led the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds to the green flag for their main event, with Cotriss in the lead ahead of Just, Noah Walker, Steve Lewis Jr, and Andrew Smith. Steve Lewis Jr would battle with Cotriss for second place and then would go after race leader Scott Just. After starting tenth on the grid, Mat Williamson would quickly enter the top five, and on lap 14 would pass Walker for third place. While running in the top five all race long, Noah Walker would bring out the Lenco Supply caution on lap 24, after having front end damage after hitting a Ute tire, and collecting Steve Lewis Jr. Ryan Susice saw an opening on the restart to take over second, as Williamson took off with the lead. Erick Rudolph, Gary Lindberg, and Just would battle for third over the final six laps. Williamson would go on to collect his sixth win of the season.
Abby Castile and Brendan Zimmerman brought the Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag for their feature, with Castile in the lead ahead of Zimmerman, Tyler Foster, Madyson Rouse, and Derek Wagner. Wagner would take over fourth and then take over third from Foster on lap six. Zimmerman would close in on Castile and would battle for the lead. Cam Tuttle and Cody McPherson would work their way through the field and would battle for sixth spot. Zimmerman would take over the lead on lap 17 and would pull away from Castile and Wagner. The caution would come out as Kyle Teeter, Jocelyn Just, and Steve Miller got together in turn one on lap 24. Zimmerman would hold off Castile and Wagner to score his first career feature win.
Mike Kelly and Phil Schepis were on the front row for the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks feature, with Schepis in the lead ahead of Kelly, Brandon Sherwood, Mike Welch, and John Zimmerman. Sherwood would take the lead on lap two, with Welch, Josh Pangrazio, and Chase Kish starting to move up through the field. The Lenco Supply caution would come out on lap eight as Butch Zimmerman came to a stop on the back straightaway. The restart would see Sherwood take off with the lead, as Pangrazio passed Welch to take over third place. Pangrazio would then pass Schepis for second and would chase down race leader Sherwood. Pangrazio would look to the outside and on the final lap, would go side by side with Sherwood and coming off turn four, would grab the lead and win, his second lap of the season and 25th of his Ransomville career.
Brandon Close and Louis Chiavetta brought the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks to the green flag for their main event, with Close in the lead ahead of Ben Hornquist. Jeffrey Wynes and Cody Griffin battled for third place for much of the feature distance. Close would pull away from Hornquist to score his first win of the season.
Jayme Just and Jacob Flynn shared the front row for the J&D Tires and Service Novice Sportsman feature, with Flynn in the lead, with Just and Friesen racing in the top three ahead of Robert Henning and Christian Soladay. With Flynn in the lead, Jayme Just would keep second as Robert Henning and Russell Friesen battled for third place. Flynn would go on to score the feature win.
Racing returns to the Big R on Friday July 17, as Performance Manufacturing and Shelby Crushed Stone presents a full card of racing plus the Mod Lites and the annual Little R go-kart exhibition. Pit gates will open at 5pm, with grandstands opening at 6pm, and racing to begin at 7:15pm.
