Drivers and Fans Stick It Out Through a Rainy Night at Fulton

COLUMN BY: Robert Kenney Jr. / FULTON SPEEDWAY – FULTON, NY  –  Rain may have delayed the start of Baldwinsville Wrestling-sponsored Family Autograph Night, but the fans who stuck it out were rewarded with an action-packed night of racing at Fulton Speedway.

The evening got off to a slow start as rain pushed back the opening ceremonies. Track crews worked to get the surface ready before the Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman class took to the track. Following the heat races, all four divisions lined the front stretch for the highly anticipated Family Autograph Night.

The weather once again became a factor during the autograph session as a brief sprinkle moved through. Once the autograph session wrapped up, another round of rain forced the track crew back into action. Thanks to their hard work, the surface was prepared and the show was able to continue.

With the delays, track officials made the decision to switch up the normal racing order, putting the E & V Energy Novice Sportsman on track first.

The E & V Energy Novice Sportsman opened the feature portion of the night with the largest field of the season, as 22 cars took the green. Tim Halsey put together a strong run and was able to hold off Justin Crisafulli to score the victory. The win marked Halsey’s first of the 2026 season.

The Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Stock Cars followed with another season-best field, as 25 cars were scheduled to take the green. Mark Kingsbury jumped out to the early lead, but defending track champion John Pietrowicz worked his way to the front and eventually took control of the race. Pietrowicz would go on to capture his first win of the season. Kingsbury held on for second, with Adam Hunt rounding out the podium.

The Tracey Road DIRTcar Modifieds were next, with Andrew Buff starting from the outside pole. Buff wasted little time moving to the front, taking the lead early and appearing to have the race under control. However, the closing laps brought a major challenge as lap traffic became a factor.

Second-place Pat Ward was able to close the gap while Buff worked through traffic, setting up an exciting finish. Buff managed to find his way around the slower cars and maintain the advantage, securing his first win of the season.

The Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman closed out the night. The feature got off to a wild start when a first-lap crash collected the top two drivers in the points standings. Multiple additional cautions would slow the event, but Mike Fowler remained focused at the front.

Fowler established a strong lead and began to pull away from the field. A late caution, however, gave Cody Manitta one final opportunity. Manitta made a strong charge on the restart and was able to get alongside Fowler through Turns 1 and 2. Fowler refused to give up the position, holding off the challenge and driving on to his second victory of the season.

Despite the weather delays and multiple rounds of track preparation, the fans who stayed until the end were treated to a memorable night with four different feature winners.
