Story By: CHRIS MOORE / GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY – GEORGETOWN, DE – Championship time. The Mid-Atlantic Championship weekend is once again set to crown Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled by Sunoco champions.
The Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central for Modifieds and Belmont’s Garage South Region for Crate 602 Sportsman return to Georgetown Speedway for the final time in 2021 with champions to be crowned.
King Ferry, N.Y.’s Mike Mahaney (STSS Modifieds) and Newtown, Pa.’s Joe Toth (STSS Crate 602 Sportsman) lead the STSS into the final points paying weekend for the series in 2021.
The weekend starts on Friday (Oct. 29) with a full night of racing. The “Spectacular” PA/NJ Spec 358 Small-Blocks headline the Friday night program with a 30-lap, $5,000-to-win – with the $100 Stockley Tavern Gambler’s Challenge posted – affair. The event will pay $3,000-to-win with no “gambler’s fee” and $4,000-to-win with the $50 “gambler’s fee.”
The First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models will join the Small-Blocks in a 20-lap, $1,000-to-win feature event.
The STSS Modifieds will also run heat races that night, along with Super Late Model time trials and heat races to set up their feature events on Saturday. The Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers round out the Friday program.
On Saturday (Oct. 30), the South Region Championship for the STSS Modifieds will take place. The 40-lap, $7,000-to-win – with the $100 Stockley Materials Gambler’s Challenge; $6,000 with the $50 “gambler’s fee” posted; $5,000 with no “gambler’s fee” – main event will be the final round of the South Region for the Modifieds.
The Super Late Models will also race for the same winner’s share with the same “Gambler’s Challenge” in place courtesy of JD Shuckers Georgetown.
The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman will be on hand on Saturday for their championship race on the Belmont’s Garage South Region. The Sportsman will compete for 25-laps and $1,500-to-win in the final Georgetown event of the season.
The Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks, and Delmarva Chargers will also be on the card to round out the Saturday portion of the program.
Georgetown Speedway champions will also be crowned as part of the Sunoco Championship Series for the Chesapeake Paving Modifieds, Blue-Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman and First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models.
