Story By: BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – With a successful “Topless” night behind us, Big Diamond Speedway is the place to be for the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman this Friday night, June 17th.
This Friday night, it will be the annual Fayash Memorial which will pay $1,157 to the winner.
The USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman division has been as competitive all season long with only one driver being able to visit victory lane more the once. That driver is Brendan Edgar who has two wins on the season and is the current points leader. Last week’s winner Danny Buccafusca has been strong all season and comes into this Friday second in points coming off a win and a second place in the past two weeks. Matt Yoder, Logan Watt and Kyle Kania complete the top five in points with all drivers looking to score win #1 on the season. This week’s event for the Crate 602 Sportsman will be a draw race, paying $1,157 to win and $157 to take the green.
Not to be left out, the ground pounding Insigner Performance modifieds will also be in action showing off their exciting brand of racing. Duane Howard who won last week’s “Topless 30” for the second year in a row has taken over the points lead followed the steady Eddie Strada, Louden Reimert, Nick Rochinski and Craig Von Dohren. The modifieds have yet to see a multiple winner this season. Can Jeff Strunk, Ryan Krachun, Craig Von Dohren, Brett Kressley or Duane Howard become the first driver to double up in 2022. This week the Insigner Performance Modifeds will race for $3,000 with $300 to take the green.
In the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner division, can anyone stop Mike Reichert? Reichert, who is the current points leader, has won the past two week and will looking for win number three on the season. Alex Schoffstall and Andrew Fayash III also have wins in 2022 and will be looking to stop Reichert’s winning streak.
Pit gates will open this Friday at 5:00 pm with Grandstand gates opening at 5:30 pm
Pit admission is $35 for Diamond Speedway members. Non-member pit admission is $40.
Warmups get underway at 7:15 PM with racing starting at 7:45 PM.
General admission on Friday night will be $20, Kids under 16 are free. Active military are admitted free with a valid ID.
