Story By: TYLER HARPELL / FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY – KIRKWOOD,NY – After a long and cold off season, the Five Mile Point Speedway opened the gates for the first time in 2019 on Sunday.
Nearly 30 cars from various divisions flocked to the Five Mile Point Speedway for the first of 4 early season practice events. Track crews were able to get the speedway graded and worked in early last week which led to the decision to add an open practice on Sunday.
Track co-promoter Tyler Harpell stated. “We are thrilled with how many teams came out to participate today and how well the track held up. With temperatures in the 50’s, it really turned out to be a great day to get cars on the track for the first time in 2019.”
Despite a cold and wet spring, the speedway was in great shape allowing drivers to get some early season seat time in. Drivers from six different divisions participated on Sunday including Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, 600cc Mods, and 4 cylinders.
The speedway will once again host a practice session this coming Saturday, March 30th from 3-7pm. For more information check us out on Facebook ,online at: 5Milepointspeedway.com, or by phone at: 607-775-5555.
