Story By: PAUL SZMAL / FREEDOM MOTORSPORTS PARK – DELEVAN, NY – Freedom Motorsports Park hosted its final regular Friday night event of the 2019 season with the running of the Jason Dunham Memorial for the Zimmers Service Center United Late Model Series (ULMS) along with the regular divisons, sponsored by Budweiser.
The ULMS Jason Dunham Memorial began with Max Blair passing Mike Wonderling and pulling out to a good lead while Dave Scott battled Wonderling for second. Scott got the runnerup spot on lap 5 and chased after Blair as the leaders worked their way through traffic. Greg Oakes was able to reel in Wonderling and they battled for third till the first caution of the event flew on lap 22 for Dutch Davies, who had come to a stop in turn four. Blair held off Scott on the restart to take his 4th Jason Dunham Memorial win, while Scott’s second place finish netted him the 2019 Freedom Motorsports Park track championship in the Super Late Model division. Greg Oakes, Mike Wonderling, and Chad Wright rounded out the top five.
ULMS heats were won by Dave Scott and Max Blair.
In the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature, Sam Hoxie led the first lap and Brad Rouse charged past him on lap 2 to take the lead. Wilcox and Hoxie battled for second with Ray Bliss Jr closing in from the fourth spot. Rouse pulled away to take the win and lock up the track championship in the division, followed by Wilcox, Hoxie, Bliss Jr, and Dennis Cummings.
The DIRTcar Sportsman Modified heat was won by Brad Rouse.
The Street Stocks saw a wild start to their feature, with Randy Taylor outgunning Bill Taylor for the lead on lap 1, only to surrender the lead to Kurt Stebbins on lap 2. Bill Taylor almost spun, recovering to stay in fifth spot as the field bunched up for a lap 3 restart. Bill Taylor charged back through the field, passing Tom Kemp for second just before a lap 9 yellow. Stebbins and Taylor battled the rest of the way for the win, with Stebbins holding off Taylor for the checkers and the championship. Following Taylor in the top five were Kemp, Ted Mascho, and Bill Demick.
Street Stock heats were won by Tom Kemp and Kurt Stebbins.
In the Mini Stock feature, Brad Whiteside took the ealry lead while Tyler Oakes and Duane Powers battled for second and third. Powers got by Oakes, who fell into a battle for third with Matt Mowrey. In traffic, Powers caught Whiteside and they battled for the lead till a lap 13 caution for William Weller Jr’s spin on the frontstretch. Oakes had trouble one lap later and fell out, leaving Powers one more chance to challenge for the win, but Whiteside held him off, while Powers took second and the track championship. William Weller Jr, Matt Mowrey, and DJ Williams rounded out the top five.
The Mini Stock heats were won by Matt Mowrey and Brad Whiteside.
The Bandit feature was won by Tierney White over Jacob Tubbs and Cody Atwater. Cody Atwater was crowned the Bandit track champion.

Freedom Motorsports Park will be off until ‘Big Dog Saturday’ on September 8th, featuring the Zimmers Service Center ULMS Late Models and Big Block/Small Block
Modifieds racing for a guaranteed starting spot in Fulton Speedway’s Outlaw 200. Race time is 7:30 p.m.
