Chad Homan Victorious In RUSH Crate Late Model Feature Friday At Freedom Motorsports Park

Story By: PAUL SZMAL / FREEDOM MOTORSPORTS PARK – ARCADE, NY – Ed Carley Motorsports presented Friday night’s racing program at Freedom Motorsports Park, with some great racing among the divisions, including the biggest field of RUSH Stock Cars at the track this season.
The 25-lap East Coast Speed RUSH Crate Late Model feature saw an opening lap crash on the backstretch end the night for Mark Sundt and Brad Mesler. When racing resumed, Bill Taylor and Bryce Davis had a good battle for the lead that ended when Davis spun in turn two. Chad Homan moved into second and started putting pressure on Taylor for the lead, Homan took the lead five laps later as Chuck LaFleur passed Dave DuBois and Paul Grigsby inside the top five.
Taylor scraped the wall and damaged the rear deck on his car as Lafleur and Grigsby moved ahead. Grigsby took second from Lafleur on lap 16, but could not run down Homan, who took career win number 92, with Grigsby, LaFleur, Davis, and dave Dubois rounding out the top five.
East Coast Speed RUSH Crate Late Model heats were won by Chad Homan and Bryce Davis.
In the Close Racing Supply RUSH Pro Mod 20-lap feature, Josh Wilcox grabbed the early lead, but Tyler Oakes battled him for the lead while Adam Ashcroft chared into third with Steve Dixon in fourth. Dixon and Ashcroft battled for third, with Ashcroft getting the spot as Wilcox and Oakes maintained the top two spots. On a lap 9 restart, Ashcroft got past Wilcox for the top spot as Al Brewer battled with Justin Chaddock for fifth.
Oakes made a move for second past Wilcox on lap 13 as Ashcroft pullled away. At the finish, Ashcroft took the win,, with Oakes, Dixon, Brewer, and Wilcox.
Close Racing Supply RUSH Pro Mod heats were won by Steve Dixon and Adam Peterson.
The 15-lap RUSH Stock Car feature began with William Baker leading the first lap, but Kaden Michael ripped into the lead on lap 2 and puled out a big lead while Lane Reinwald fought his way into second by lap 5.
A quick caution for Alex Bush’s spin on lap 9 bunched the field for a restart, and Reinwald and Michael battled hard till Michael spun in turn two on lap 13. Reinwald held off Baker for the win, followed by Cody Rickard, Cole Strickland, and Kaden Michael.
The RUSH Stock Car heat was won by Cody Rickard.
In the 15-lap Mini Stock feature, DJ Williams and Andy Schumaker battled the entire race for the lead, with Nathan Hill in third. Schumaker and Williams ran side by side for several laps, but in the end Williams had enough for a one car length win over Schumaker, with Hill, Bill Weatherley, and John Michael rounded out the top five.
The Mini Stock heat was won by Andy Schumaker.
The 10-lap Bandit feature saw Raiddan Wilson take the lead on lap 2 and go the distance in the top spot for the win, followed by Chace Tidd and Khloe Griffin

Racing continues at Freedom Motorsports Park on Friday, July 28th with the a full program of East Coast Speed RUSH Crate Late Models, Close Racing Supply RUSH Pro Mods, Street Stocks, RUSH Stock Cars, Mini Stocks, and Bandits. Racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
