Story By: PAUL SZMAL / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – Friday night was the first night of the Lane’s Yamaha Outlaw Speedway Fall Nationals, which was headlined by the remaining 20 laps of the Patriot Sprint Tour event from the Summer Nationals along with a full Lane’s Yamaha 360 Sprint program featuring the Patriot Sprint Tour.
Picking up at the lap 10 mark, the Summer Nationals Patriot Sprint Tour ‘A’ Main makeup race saw Ryan Smith take the lead on the restart and pull away from Jared Zimbardi and Paulie Colagiovanni.
The yellow flew for Jake Karklin’s stalled car on lap 15, and when racing resumed, Zimbardi put pressure on Smith as they traded slide jobs.
Zimbardi was able to wrestle the lead away from Smith two laps later. Smith returned the favor on lap 28, taking the lead and holding off Zimbardi for the win.
The 15-lap Gunslinger Dash for the Friendly Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Outlaw Modifieds saw Steve Paine take the lead from Willy Decker while Tyler Siri and Danny Johnson charged up to the outside.
Siri charged past Paine on lap 13 on the outside and dodged traffic on the last lap to take the win. Danny Johnson slid under Paine on the final lap to take second, and the season-long teammates locked into starting spots for Saturday night’s Gunsliner 50 event.
As the regularly scheduled Patriot Sprint Tour ‘A’ Main took to the track, the action was stopped because of a fire in the generator building. While the fire was quickly put out, the damage done forced officials to shut off power to the facility and suspend the night’s racing activities.
Further information on the remainder of Friday night’s program, as well as updates on Saturday’s planned program, will be posted on the Outlaw Speedway Facebook page
