Story By: FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY – KIRKWOOD, NY – Brian Malcolm came up just short in his pursuit of his third straight Modified regular season Track Championship back in September at Five Mile Point Speedway. A disastrous final night led to Brett Tonkin taking the 2021 Modified Regular Season title. Malcolm is looking for a better result this Saturday as he leads the Sportsman points in the 2021 Fall Series entering the finale. Racing for the Small Cars (Four Cylinders, Slingshots and 600 Modifieds) begins at 2 p.m. with the Big Cars starting their program at 4:45 p.m.
The Crate Sportsman teams will be running their longest distance race of the season with a 55 lapper paying $2,555 to the winner. Malcolm enters the event as the point leader. Teams from as far away as New Hampshire will be making the trek to the popular quarter mile oval in Kirkwood this Saturday for what is called the “Great Crate Race”. Bobcat of Binghamton is sponsoring all of the racing action on Saturday.
The Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Futures Sportsman will also be part of the early evening program that will end the 2021 regional racing season. Close to 150 race teams are expected to be on hand from all over the northeast. A great weather day is expected to greet the teams and fans that will be attending the final race of 2021.
Pit gates open at 12 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 1 p.m. Small Car racing begins at 2 p.m. with the big cars running at 4:45 p.m. Adult grandstand admission remains only $15 with seniors only $12 and youth ages 8-14 are $8. Kids 8 and younger will be admitted free.
