Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri has recently announced the class sponsors for the upcoming 2022 season.
“We are extremely fortunate to have an excellent group of marketing partners that will be sponsoring all of our seven weekly divisions that will see competition during the upcoming race season. Everyone that was on board last year has re-upped, and in most cases these same businesses have been with me for years as class sponsors.” That according to Siri.
Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram will return for the seventh year as the headline sponsor of Outlaw Speedway’s premier division, The Mighty Modifieds. In addition to their class sponsorship, Friendly also provides the track with a new Dodge Ram truck each season as the Official Pace Vehicle of the Outlaw Speedway. Track signage along with a night of sponsorship is also included in the extensive marketing agreement between the two parties. Each week Friendly of Penn Yan has at least one new vehicle on display for fans and curious on lookers to see and Friendly Sales Representative, Rodney Cole has become a weekly fixture at the track. Most recently Gibson has become a major marketing partner aligning Sunrise Insulation in several capacities at the track including class sponsor, start/finish line sponsor, track signage and other forms of marketing. Sunrise Insulation is also onboard as a sponsor of the potent #27 piloted by Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame driver, The Doctor, Danny Johnson. Johnson pilots one of three modifieds out of the Tyler Siri Motorsports shops located right at the Outlaw Speedway. The Hoosier Tire DIRTcar 602 Sportsman Class will be back at Outlaw in 2022 as Speed Connection of Hopewell, NY will take control of the class sponsorship for the second consecutive season at Outlaw. After a success “21”, company owner, Eldon Payne and his family are pleased to continue their involvement at the track. Third generation driver and 2021 American Racer Tire Sportsman Outlaw Speedway Track Champion, Alex Payne not only is still a high school student, but also works side by side with father, Eldon in running Speed Connection which continues to grow in and around the Finger Lakes Region of NY supplying racers with tires, fuel, shocks and bolt on components. Last season, Alex Payne ran weekly in both Sportsman Divisions a fete only matched by a few others. In addition to his track title on American Racer Tires, Payne also finished in the runner-up spot to Hoosier Tire Track Champion, Ajay Potrzebowski Jr. and for both they will be moving into the tough Outlaw Speedway Modified Division in 2022. With both Eldon and Alex Payne at the local tracks every race night they stay on top of all the latest and greatest technology and apply it to Speed Connection in an effort to better keep up with racers demands.
Stan Koziatek raced at the Outlaw Speedway many years ago, but his business obligations have kept him personally away from the sport. However, thru his company, Stan’s No Tubes Tire Sealant of Big Flats, NY Koziatek continues to stay in the forefront of racing providing a bullet proof chemical to eliminate race tire punctures. Numerous competitors including many time Outlaw Speedway Street Stock Track Champion, Glen Whritenour swears by Stan’s No Tubes to keep his potent machine on track even after a small tire puncture. Originally used in the bicycle industry for both the recreational biker plus professionals who make their livings racing bicycles, they depend on Stan’s No Tubes sealants to keep them from those annoying flat tires. Koziatek has formulated the chemicals in the product right at his Big Flats facility where all the inventory is manufactured, packaged and shipped across the globe. For Stan Koziatek and his family, they see marketing thru Motorsports as another avenue to promote their tire sealant product. Tyler Siri will proudly welcome back for the third consecutive Stan’s No Tubes as sponsor of the Outlaw Speedway Street Stock Division in 2022. For an extensive look at what goes on at Stan’s log on at www.notubes.com.
The Addison, Corning, Hornell and Wellsville NAPA Auto Parts Stores will be back at Outlaw for the second consecutive season to sponsor the highly competitive Hobby Stock Division. The Hobby Stocks are taking the northeast by storm where drivers are finding this affordable class an alternative to the more sophisticated high dollar forms of competition. Many drivers have come out of retirement to race in the Hobby Stocks and they will all tell you that if it were not for this class they would still be sitting home. With a strict set of rules governing the class, Hobby Stock racers experience much lower tire and fuel bills then some other classes and they do not have to spend tens of thousands on a reliable power plant. The racing is impressive as fans and drivers love the close competition and it is common to see three and four wide racing putting much of the emphasis back into the driver’s hands as to who is the best wheelman. Vera Eaker of Addison Auto Parts in downtown Addison along with Nate Dunning who owns NAPA Stores on Park Ave in South Corning, Rt 417 in Wellsville and Rt 21 in Hornell are once again pleased to hang the NAPA logo onto the popular Hobby Stock Division.
The Winner’s Circle Deli, 20 Main Street in Dundee will return to Outlaw in 2022 as the headline class sponsor of the 4 Cylinder Mini Stock Division. Winner’s Circle came onboard with Tyler Siri when he purchased the track some seven years ago and attached their name to the Youth Bandit Division. In 2020 they then took over the Mini Stocks as the class sponsor and will return in the same capacity this coming year. Outlaw Speedway co-mingles both front and rear wheel driven 4-cylinder creations providing a great mix of competition for drivers and fans alike. It is common to see a rear wheel Mustang doing door to door with a front wheel Honda as the class always provides plenty of excitement. Winners Circle Deli is a family owned and operated restaurant offering great home cooking for dine in or take out and they also cater great food at affordable prices. For more information go to www.winnerscircledeli.wixsite.com.
Rounding out the class sponsors list for the 2022 season at Outlaw Speedway is Swarthout Recycling of Beaver Dams, NY as they will take on the all new 600cc Modifieds. Swarthout’s is a name synonymous withing Upstate New York as a major buyer of scrap steel and other recyclable materials, however their expertise goes much further as they are now heavily involved in the fields of demolition and site work along with heavy crane service as well as their traditional roll off container service. According to Tyler Siri, “Last season I put the 360 Sprints on the weekly card and Lane’s Yamaha came onboard to sponsor the class. As COVID began retreating last summer, the 360 Sprint touring groups got back into full swing after nothing going on in 2021 and there were a lot of conflicting dates with me trying to run them every Friday and the touring series taking to the road about every weekend. I had good support from Lane’s and the racers, but the need for a place for them to race every week is now gone so I have decided to bring in an upstart division to the track in the 600 Modifieds. This class is rapidly growing at other venues and the drivers indicated to me they needed a Friday night track. Brian Swarthout is a racer himself and he jumped at the opportunity to tie the Swarthout Recycling name in with the 600 Mod’s.” Swarthout Recycling is located on CR 16 in Beaver Dams and can be found on the web at www.swarthoutrecycling.com.
It should be noted that Lane’s Yamaha will continue to be a big player at the Outlaw Speedway in 2022 as their name will be attached to numerous events including the Annual NASCAR and Ted Sir Memorial Night at the track on August 19. As part of this year’s event the All-Star Tournament of Champions 410 Sprints will highlight the card as Outlaw Speedway celebrates its 65th Anniversary.
