Column By: TOM WENNER / RPW – MINERSVILLE, PA – I visited with Timmy Buckwalter in the pit area on Saturday before the Grandview Speedway action started to chat about his absence from this past Friday’s Big Diamond Speedway event.
Timmy is one of the best guys to talk with in the pit area, well respected by the drivers and owners and as friendly and open as they come.
I think it came as a surprise to everyone on Friday Night when the gates opened at the Big Diamond Speedway and the Saxton Motorsports 23x of Timmy Buckwalter was not in attendance.
Timmy was the 2021 Big Diamond Speedway Spec 358 Modified champion. If you checked his Tim Buckwalter Racing Facebook social media page it was clearly noted that the team was not planning to race on Friday night.
The schedule showed 4/27 @ Delaware International, 4/30 Grandview Speedway and BAP Motor Speedway on 5/1.
Big Diamond was left off and it was a planned night off from racing.
Timmy shared with me that the Saxton Motorsports 23x Team will be concentrating on chasing the Grandview Speedway 2022 NASCAR T.P. Trailers 358 Modified Championship. They will also be chasing the full PA Tri-Track Racing Series.
On Friday nights, the team will not be defending their title at the Big Diamond Speedway. Timmy shared that the current challenges with racing tire availability and fuel costs are a big reason behind it.
Timmy & The Saxton Motorsports 23x Team will return to Big Diamond Speedway this Friday, May 6th for the ULMS Super Late Models, Spec 358 Modifieds, 602 Sportsman and Roadrunners.
