Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park played host to the long awaited return of the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds Sunday night. This was the first time that the Modifieds have been on the card at The Ridge since September of 2019.
Lance Willix made the near three-hour tow to The Ridge pay off as the Theresa, New York driver left with the lions share of the winner’s purse. The win did not come east and came in dramatic fashion.
Former Junior Slingshot Track Champion and 14-time overall winner at the track, Brock Pinkerous moved out front early on in the DIRTcar 358 Modified 30-lap feature event. Pinkerous looked strong on the lead and at one point held a commanding lead over Albany-Saratoga Speedway invader James Meehan.
Willix though got better as the laps clicked off. He would make his way past Meehan late in the event and set his sights on a distant Pinkerous. With two laps to go Willix was all over Pinkerous for the lead and coming out of turn four on the final lap, Willix made the pass for the win. The margin of victory was .061 second.
Pinkerous settled for second with Meehan third, Bill August fourth and Ray Hall, Jr. fifth. The heat race was won by Brian Calabrese.
Andrew Buff picked up the win in the Red Chair DIRTcar Sportsman feature event. The win was the fourth of the season for the Latham, New York driver. Garrett Poland finished second with Justin Buff third, Zach Buff fourth and Cody Ochs fifth. The heat races were won by Poland and Andrew Buff.
Luke Horning won the 20-lap Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock feature event. The win was Horning’s seventh of the season at The Ridge. Jay Fitzgerald finished second with Steve Cosselman third, Richard Spencer fourth and Chris Daugherty fifth. The heat races were won by Cosselman and Horning.
Butchie Irwin made a thrilling, last lap, turn four pass on Mike Hill stick as he picked up the Cherko & Fusco Realty Limited Sportsman feature event win. Hill settled for second with Nick Arnold third, Lucas Duncan fourth and Wesley Sutliff fifth. The win was the sixth of the season for Irwin. The heat race was won by Arnold.
Dominic Denue won his second Street Stock feature event of the season. Matt Wells finished second with Adam Tranka third and Rich Walters fourth. The heat races were won by Tranka and Denue. The division ran their feature and qualifying events with the Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock division.
The DIRTcar Mini Stock division feature events were won by Billy Hillman (Dual Cam) and Bruce Liddle (Single Cam). The Northeast Paving and Sealcoat Slingshot features were won by Adam Fusco (All-Stars) and Connor Crane (Junior).
