Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – With the days getting shorter and the smell of autumn now beginning to fill the air, it is that time of year when kids will be returning to school.
The tradition of handing out Back to School Back Packs to numerous youngsters will continue Saturday, August 20 as Wicked Tee’s of Pine Valley along with Larry’s Latrines in Hornell will team up to co-sponsor the night of action which will include a Great 8 Show of race competition on the high banked one-third of a mile clay oval.
“This track has given out a countless number of backpacks to hundreds of happy youngsters over the past decade stated Woodhull Raceway owners, Terry and Niki Brewer. With the tough economy as such, many local families are struggling trying to pay bills and in many cases, people put most of their pay checks into their gas tanks. If we can relieve some of their financial burden by passing out several back packs to kids heading to school in a few week’s it will most certainly help.”
To be eligible to qualify for the backpack give aways, youngsters must register at the Joe Willcox Performance Junior Fan Sign-in Booth as they enter the grandstand seating area.
Various age groups will be posted the night of the event pending the availability of back packs made possible thru the supplying vendors of the Woodhull Raceway.
On the track it’s a Regular Great 8 Show with the Insinger Performance Modifieds heading up the program supported by the NAPA 602 Crate Sportsman and the Armstrong RUSH Crate Late Models along with the Joe Willcox Performance Street Stocks. Also, on the card the Hobby Stocks, Wicked Tee’s Mini Stocks and Warriors as well as the Front Wheel Drive’s will be in action.
Gate times for the August 20 show will find pit entry at 3:30 with the Main Grandstand gates swinging an hour later at 4:30 pm.
