Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – The biggest regular season event of the 2022 season is set to go on Friday, August 19 with the First Annual Ted Siri Memorial Event at the Outlaw Speedway.
“When I was putting the “22” schedule together I wanted to include a special event in memory of my late Father, Ted who passed away last December. I was able to book Tony Stewart’s Tezos Flo Racing All Star Circuit of Champions 410 Sprint Series the same weekend as the NASCAR events at nearby Watkins Glen International Raceway. This always brings a lot of anxious fans to Outlaw and with the addition of a high-profile group like the Tezos ASCOC this will perhaps be the largest attended event ever held at this facility.” That according to Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri.
Taking things one step further, Siri will also have a Modified Special in Memory of his late father, Ted Siri paying the winner a whomping $4321.00. That is big bucks for any non-sanctioned regular weekly Friday night event.
“My dad was this tracks biggest supporter and my number one fan, stated Tyler Siri. He loved Modified competition, so I am putting up an added purse in his memory.
Siri is wrapping everything into one big marketing package to celebrate the Annual NASCAR Night at the famed Yates County Speedway.
“As I have stated many times in the past, I wanted to promote a block buster of a mid-summer event here at the track. With the ASCOC along with all the weekly divisions plus the Modified Special and having Lane’s Yamaha onboard as the nightly sponsor, it does not get much better.” That once again according to Tyler Siri.
It is too early to predict what NASCAR drivers may be at the track, however historically the track has hosted some of the all-time greats that compete in the National Touring Series which makes its annual stop at WGI. Stewart is just one of a whos’ who list of drivers including most recently Kurt Bush and Aric Almirola who have visited the facility.
On the speedway in addition to the 410 Sprints and the Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Ram Modifieds it will be a regular show of all the tracks weekly classes including the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire and the Speed Connection DIRTcar Hosier Tire Sportsman Divisions along with the Stan’s No Tubes Street Stocks. The NAPA Hobby Stocks, Winner’s Circle Deli Mini Stocks and the Swarthout Recycling 600 Modifieds will also see action.
The Tezos Flo Racing ASCOC 410 Sprints and the Friendly Modifieds will run qualifying events. All other classes will be that of feature only format.
Current ASCOC point leader and 2021 Series Champion, “Sunshine” Tyler Courtney along with Justin Peck and “Law Firm” Parker Price Miller will all be in action. Danny Dietrich confirmed earlier this week that he plans to attend the ASCOC event at Outlaw Speedway as he will head up the Pa Posse contingent. It is also anticipated that several ESS and PST competitors including the likes of Jared Zimbardi, No Panic Davey Franek, Paulie Colagiovanni and others will all be in action as many 360 competitors have 410 cubic inch small block power plants in their arsenal.
With Outlaw Speedway hosting the opening event of the ASCOC three-night New York State swing it will most definitely get the attention of many 410 sprint car specialists. Other tracks include Utica Rome on Saturday as Weedsport on Sunday will wrap up the trifecta of events held in the Empire State.
