Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – Following their scheduled August 26 No Racing Vacation Night, the Outlaw Speedway will come roaring back with their regular season finale on Friday, September 2, 2022.
On the card it will be a complete show of all the track’s weekly divisions including the Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds along with the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire Sportsman and the Speed Connection DIRTcar Hoosier Tire Sportsman Divisions. Also, on the card it will be the Stan’s No Tubes Street Stocks, the Swarthout Recycling 600 Modifieds, the NAPA Hobby Stocks as well as the Winner’s Circle Deli Mini Stocks. The Fritz Masonry Bandits will wrap up the aggressive night of action.
What will make this event standout is that Double Points are on the line for all classes which can and will have a direct impact on who will walk away with their respective class titles.
“The Double Point Finale can be a real game changer, stated Outlaw Speedway track owner, Tyler Siri. It brings a lot of strategy into play and makes drivers really think about what they are doing. The guys that have nothing to lose will turn up the wick and perhaps go for broke, while in other instances the top point getters will play- things a little more conservatively and not push the envelope.”
Realistically it is possible for a driver who enters the night in third, fourth or even fifth place in points to leapfrog over everyone and walk away with the title. It’s a long stretch and the stars would need to line up perfectly for that to happen. However, anyone within striking distance has a chance.
“These guys are smart, they know how to do the math and they will be paying close attention not only to where they are on the track during their feature events, but also to where their nearest point competitor is running. It always comes down to who keeps their nose clean and positions themselves for the best possible finish. Double Point Shows make things quite interesting for sure.” That once again according to track owner/promoter Boss Man, Tyler Siri.
Outlaw Speedway historically pays out one of the largest point funds within the region and finishing as near to the top in the final point standings means a hefty check at the annual awards banquet.
Not only does it put the pressure on drivers, but it keeps fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation of which drivers will come out on top of the point standings.
