Story By: KING OF DIRT RACING SERIES – FAIR HAVEN, VT – With the season winding down every race is at a premium for Fastline Performance King Of Dirt Racing Overall Championship contenders presented by Swagger Factory Apparel to improve their best 12 finishes.
Matt Janczuk is on a historic win streak at Utica Rome, Tim Hartman Jr. won twice on the weekend at Malta and Lebanon Valley, and Nick Guererri scored again at Land Of Legends.
In a trio of highlighted KOD drivers weekly, first up is Glenville, NY driver Tim Hartman Jr. Big time little Tim was one of only a few drivers to double up in a weekend of racing. He picked up a win Friday night at Albany-Saratoga and backed it up with a win on Saturday at Lebanon Valley. He’s closing in on more titles to his resume with his MRP Companies – Bemiss Trucking number 22 Troyer Race Car.
Our second driver highlight is Can-Am Speedway regular David Rogers with his Lakeside Outdoor Services – TMS Motorsports number 44 DKM Cyclone racing chassis. David raced to his second win of the season at Can-Am and has climbed the leaderboard. Few more top five finishes or possible victories and he could find himself top 10 before seasons end.
Nick Guererri is our third and final highlighted driver this week from the Land Of Legends Raceway. Guererri also earned his second win of the season moving up the leaderboard. Another win or series of top five finishes will improve position in standings for the Waterloo, NY driver with his Young Agency – Phelps Cement Products number 25 Bicknell racing chassis.
OVERALL KOD CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES: As mentioned with the season winding down every race matters. Some drivers are also looking to hit the 12-race mark and climb the leaderboard. Add to that home track starting field size bonuses coming in September and the championship points battle among 74 registered drivers is a drama race fans must see unfold.
Other winners this past weekend included Matt Janczuk who not only is on a historic win streak at Utica Rome, but has his eyes on sealing the deal on a KOD championship and making series history.
Josh Coonradt is another Utica hot shoe racing the Pro Stock division. He won his sixth race of the year last Friday night and climbed into the top five in KOD standings. The coon dog does hunt, dubs, and he’s looking to finish top 10 overall by seasons end.
Hunter Lapp secured the Thunder Mountain Speedway track title last Saturday night in fine fashion by winning his third feature of the season. Lapp currently holds the eighth position in points and finishing top 10 overall would be a huge accomplishment for this young gun.
Last but not least Garrett Poland claimed his first win of the year at Glen Ridge Motorsports park last Sunday night. Poland has been rather consistent on the season and a win helped improve his position on the leaderboard. If he could reach the top 15 by seasons end, it would be a huge accomplishment for him and his race team.
