Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – The Classic Muscle Parts DIRTcar Sportsman division is one of the most popular divisions at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.
The division has been a staple at the fast and tricky quarter mile oval since Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Hall of Famer Frank Blanchard took the divisions first checkered flag and track championship back in 2004.
Fast forward 20 years since that first “stock car” season at The Ridge and the now named Classic Muscle Parts DIRTcar Sportsman division is one of the most talent filled around. Each year some of the best in the division pull through the gates every Sunday afternoon to chase the division crown.
In 2023 those drivers will be in search of another crown to add to their collection. The season will see the debut of the Triple Crown Showdown for the division.
The Triple Crown Showdown will consist of the three big events on the schedule for the Classic Muscle Parts DIRTcar Sportsman division.
The first will be held on Sunday June 18th, with the running of the DIRTcar Sportsman East Region Event. One year ago a pair of DIRTcar Sportsman East Region events were held with two-thirds of the Racing Buff Brigade – Zach and Andrew, picking up the big wins.
Following a near month break, round number two will be held on Sunday July 23rd with the running of the 2nd Annual GRMP Hall of Fame Classic 40. A season ago Garrett Poland led wire to wire to claim his biggest win of the 2022 season.
The finale will take place on Sunday August 20th with the running of the inaugural Battle At The Ridge 50 for the DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series.
The 2023 season kicks off for The Ridge on Sunday April 23rd with the inaugural Spring Fling car show and meet and greet day. A tentative practice session is scheduled for Sunday April 30th with opening day scheduled for Sunday May 7th.
