Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – VERNON, NJ – Frank Frasco has some exciting things going on for his racing team this season.
As he returns to regular competition in the Orange County Fair Speedway, Frank will have a new car, a new sponsor, a new look on the car and his son will be racing in the Street Stock Division.
“This upcoming season, I have a newer Hig Fab car, all updated from them.”
With the new car, Frank is looking to get better feature finishes.
“We are hoping for top 5 and top 10 finishes this year. We want to get towards the top of the group, but we want to have fun. We are hoping that all the updates will help us to move towards that goal. It’s just a matter of getting more seat time.”
After some early struggles in 2022, Frank felt improvement as the season went on.
“Last season was good. In the beginning, I struggled, I am still kind of new at this. It was a struggle with driving and set up wise. Once we got the set up good and I started driving better, we were getting better finishes. I’m still trying to get better at set ups for feature time. But I can feel that the driving is better and it makes it that much more fun. I don’t have to worry too much about qualifying for features, I was making most of them towards the end of the season, and that was a bonus.”
While Frank’s car will carry his familiar #186, the car will have a new look this year.
“We won’t be having a yellow car this year. At the request of our new sponsor, we will have some new colors this year. I plan on bringing the car up to the OCFS Motorsports Show.”
Frank grew up around. His father and uncle used to race in Middletown from the 50’s until the early 70’s. As Frank started bringing his son to the races, he got the desire to give it a go himself. Now, after a few seasons of racing himself, Frank’s son Thomas will be racing a Street Stock, making the Frasco’s one of those 3 generations of racing families at the Hard Clay oval.
“We bought a decent car for Thomas, a Camaro. We put a different transmission and motor in it. We basically built a car that was good already. We just had to make our final touches to it. He’s very excited about it and I’m happy for him too. His car will be #11T.
Frank says that he might consider moving into the 358’s sometime in the future.
“I’d like to get into the 358’s, I don’t know how competitive I would be. But I think it would be fun for me. if we do that, we wouldn’t race as much because of everybody’s schedules.”
Frank’s team welcomes aboard a new major sponsor this year with Your Home Sold Guaranteed Realty, The Sunden Group. Other sponsors are US Outworkers Paving (Vernon), McAfee Hardware, Insight Septic Solutions. Road Trip RV Service, Hig Fab Chassis and Frank Frasco Home Inspections LLC.
Frank gets his help at the track from his son Thomas and Bill Richard.
One thing that you notice when you talk to Frank is his positive attitude and enthusiasm.
“We are just hoping for a good season at Orange County. We hope that everything runs smoothly there. We really appreciate everything Doug Dulgarian does for the track.”
Good luck to Frank and Thomas Frasco in 2023!!
