Column By: BILLY HODGES / RPW – MIDDLETOWN, NY – It’s amazing how people can come together to support a sport they love.
The Facebook Group, the Hard Clay Observer (HCO), will be sponsoring three contingency awards for the Short Track Super Series’ Hard Clay Open Modified feature at Orange County Fair Speedway on April 8th.
The awards include Hard Luck, Hard Charger and First Orange County track regular (based on 2022 points) across the line.
According to group admins, unlike their first ever contingency award last October, these three awards will be paid the night of the event.
Each award will pay at least $300 to the lucky recipient.
“This will give the Hard Clay Observer and those who helped build these awards substantial press during the FLO broadcast,” Admins said. “Thank you Anthony Lehmann, Brett Deyo, Andy Walther from Midnite Auto Parts (Pine Island, NY) and Jeff Munsch from CXM Floors (Middletown, NY) for helping to make this happen.”
The Hard Clay Observer is planning on doing more awards during future events Super DIRTcar Series events at Orange County, the Short Track Super Series at Accord as well as the Marky Traverse Memorial Street Stock race at OCFS.
“All awards are funded by HCO member support,” the Admins said. “Nobody takes a dollar from this. All of the money raised goes directly back to the racers.”
