Story By: PHIL ALLAWAY / LEBANON VALLEY SPEEDWAY – WEST LEBANON, NY – The Lebanon Valley Speedway season is just starting to get underway as the weather warms up.
This weekend is the 11th Annual Andrew Sherman Memorial. This is one of the biggest races of the season for the Sportsman class. $2000 will be on the line for the winner.
The Big Block Modifieds will once again be the headliners Saturday night with a 30-lap feature for $3000 to win. The 358/Small Block Modified, Limited Sportsman, Pro Stock, Street Stock and 4-Cylinder classes will be in action.
There is also a special promotion going on. This promotion, open to anyone, will allow you to get two free General Admission tickets to the races at Lebanon Valley.
Sounds pretty sweet. Perhaps someone has never been to the track before and wouldn’t mind pressing their luck to see what it’s like. A regular at the track, or someone who hasn’t been in a while.
To get the free tickets, all you have to do is show up Friday, May 19 between 1-3 p.m. ET at the new Rensselaer County Office Building. The address is 99 Troy Road (Route 4), East Greenbush, N.Y. 12061. This is just south of Interstate 90 Exit 9, or just north of the roundabout where US Route 4 meets Route 151 in the former Rose & Kiernan building (and before that, Phoenix Home Life). Go on inside and there will be free tickets given out along with fold out season schedules.
The GA tickets are good for any regular Saturday night of racing at Lebanon Valley. Special events that have an extra cost (Monsters & Megas, the two Super DIRTcar Series, Eve of Destruction) for admission are not covered. It’s a great way to introduce (or re-introduce) someone to some racing. All you have to do once you have the tickets is to get out to West Lebanon.
We hope to see you come out to West Lebanon to enjoy some racing.
To get there, take Interstate 90 Exit 11E (eastbound) or 11 (westbound) for Routes 9 (South) and 20 (East)s. When 9&20 split, stay left to continue on US 20 East.
The track will be 11.6 miles from the split on your left. From the East, you can get off of the Berkshire Spur of the New York State Thruway at Exit B3 (Route 22).
There, you would make a right onto Route 22 North and take that to US 20 in New Lebanon. At the stop sign, you would make a left.
The track will be 5.4 miles up the road on your right. Parking is always free. Hope to see you there.
