Column By: TOM WENNER / RPW – BECHTELSVILLE, PA – Logan Watt is starting to get very comfortable racing at Grandview Speedway this season.
Watt, a rookie and definitely a young gun, is building quite a resume in the Sportsman ranks. Logan is the Grandview Speedway Sportsman point leader, with one feature win to his credit.
On Sunday night in the Thunder On The Hill Racing Series nightcap 602 Crate event Watt stalked race leader Brad Grim before driving by on lap 19 to score the popular feature event win.
Brad Grim and Jordan Henn led the 24 car 602 Crate division to the green flag. Logan Watt, Ryan Graver, Talan Carter and Decker Swinehart followed at the start.
On Lap 2, Logan Watt moved into the 2nd spot.
At the 5 down mark of the race, Brad Grim in the Lynn Peters 611 was stretching his legs out front. Watt, Henn, Graver, and Carter were the Top 5.
On Lap 6 the yellow lights flashed for Dallas Bridenbach who slowed. Kenny Bock went pitside with a right rear flat. An accident in Turn 4 also was the mishap for lap 6. Joey Vaccaro, Molly Struss, Mark Mohr, BJ Joly, Mike Stofflet, Ronnie Soloman, Colton Perry were collected.
Decker Swinehart was stopped in turn 2. Vaccaro, Struss, Mohr visited the pits and returned. Bock returned.
On the restart Brad Grim powered the 611 in front once again. Watt, Henn, Graver and Logan Bauman were the new top 5. At the 8 down mark Grim remained in race control out front with Watt, Henn, Bauman, and Graver the new Top 5.
Dallas Bridenbach retired to the infield for the 2nd time.
The caution lights were flashing at lap 10 for Jesse Hirthler in the 117 who slowed in turn 4. The word, driveline failure for the young Sportsman star.
The restart saw Brad Grim, Logan Watt, Jordan Henn, Logan Bauman, and Ryan Graver the top 5.
While the cars circle under caution, Ryan Graver headed to the pits with a flat. Tom Miller Jr. got stuck in a ditch outside of turn 4 and had to be removed on the business end of the wrecker.
Parker Guldin was driving to the front after starting P16, Guldin was just outside of the Top 5.
We go back to green again with Brad Grim driving to the lead. Watt, Bauman, Henn and Talan Carter are the new Top 5.
At the lap 15 mark, Grim remains in race control but Watt is running him down. Bauman, Henn, Carter and Parker Guldin are the new Top 5.
On Lap 18 Logan Watt has driven to the 611’s bumper and is ready to challenge for the race lead. A lap later on lap 19, Logan Watt takes race command.
On lap 20, with 5 to go Watt is in full race control with Grim, Bauman, Henn, and Guldin following.
On Lap 23 Joey Vaccaro retired from the event.
Logan Watt would race to the 602 Crate feature event win. Brad Grim would bring home 2nd, Logan Bauman 3rd, Jordan Henn 4th, Parker Guldin 5th, Hunter Iatalese 6th, Talan Carter 7th, Dakota Kohler 8th, Nathan Mohr 9th, and Kevin Olenik 10th.

The Thunder On The Hill Racing Series promoted a 602 Crate division on Sunday, A typical Saturday Sportsman class is a mix of Open Sportsman and 602 Crates. Some 602 Invaders who attended on Sunday included Talan Carter, Kevin Olenik, Joey Vaccaro and Jordan Henn was back with his 77 with a 602 bolted inside it. 30-602 Crate Sportsman were pitside.
