Story By: MARTIN BÉLANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – The return of the Empire Super Sprints this coming Sunday will start a streak of 5 big shows at the Cornwall Motor Speedway, a few fan favourites will be part of this series.
June 25: Empire Super Sprints + Clyde Sligner Pro-Stock Series
The last time the Empire Super Sprints visited Cornwall was on June 3rd, 2018, Jason Barney was the race winner, currently sitting 4th in points, he will be joined by many drivers including the 2022 ESS champion in Jordan Poirier, Shawn Donath, Dylan Swiernik, Matt Tanner, Danny Varin, Jeff Cook, Davie Franek, Paul Colagiovanni and many regulars from Western Ontario and Eastern Quebec making the haul. The second round of the Clyde Sligner Pro-Stock Series will also be on the card as the Lightning Sprints will make their first trip of the season along with the popular Street-Stock, Sportsman and Mini-Stock. Pits will be full and the stands should be full as well! Racing will start at 6pm!
July 2: Run what you brung Modified, Race for the Cure Sportsman and Farnham Ale Lager Pro-Stock Series
Another popular event is back this season with the Run what you brung Modified race, the 50-lap feature will bring the best creations the drivers can do as this race has basically no rules if you bring a Modified chassis, the rest is up to the driver to use his imagination to driver and win the $4,000! The Race for the Cure Sportsman Series along with the Farnham Ale Canadian Pro-Stock Series should bring out the best from Ontario and Quebec in both divisions. Rick’s Ranch Mini-Stock are also on the card.
July 9: Autograph Night
A popular event for the fans and appreciated by race teams as everyone is invited on the racetrack during intermission to meet and greet with their favourite driver. A full program is on tap for that evening.
July 13: $10,000 to win Canadian Big Block Series
One of the main events of the 2023 season at Cornwall on Thursday, July 13 with the $10,000 to win Canadian Big Block Series that should attract some of the best drivers in business from the United States along with Ontario and Quebec. A 40-lap Sportsman feature is on the card along with the Mini-Stocks.
July 16 : Summer Sizzler Sportsman Showdown
The Next Level Home Improvement will have the spotlight on July 16 with the Summer Sizzler Sportsman Showdown, this 50-lap event will pay a nice $3,000 to the race winner and will be open to 358-Modified drivers to compete with a crate engine for that night only, this should attract a lot of the best Sportsman drivers in the area. Midget STR, Mini-Modifieds along with Pro-Stock and Mini-Stock will be on the racing card.
July will be a very busy month with 6 events in total including shows on July 23 and 30.
