Story By: MARTIN BÉLANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – One of the fan favorites is back on the schedule for 2023 this Sunday with the Modified Run What you Brung event along with the Race for the Cure Sportsman and Farnham Ale Lager Pro-Stock Series plus the Ricks Ranch Mini-Stock.
After several years away from the schedule, promoter Raymond Lavergne decided to bring back the Run what you Brung Modified, a 50-lap event is on the docket for the JLB Heating and Cooling Modified and will pay a cool $4,000 to win. Race teams are allowed to do any changes to their Modified chassis if it meets a few safety rules, fans will see some unique creations for that race.
One of the all-time fan favorites, Stephane Lafrance has been confirmed to run this event on Sunday, he is finalizing a car specially for the 3 races that will be run in the area in the coming weeks. Lafrance will certainly be to watch amongst other competitors as it will be a show-up points for that evening.
The Race for the Cure Sportsman Series is back for a second round, it brings up the best drivers from Ontario and Quebec as Cedric Gauvreau won the initial round in front of Bobby Herrington and Donovan Lussier. Last week we had 36 cars for a regular event, we will get another full field of cars in the Sportsman.
The Pro-Stock will have another important event this Sunday with the first of two visits of the Farnham Ale Lager Pro-Stock Series, a great car count is expected as we should see some extra cars. Who can stop Marc Lalonde in the division? He already has 4 wins so far.
The Ricks Ranch Mini-Stock will also take part in the action on Sunday with very good competition in the division with an average of more than 16 cars every night.
Pit gates will open at 2pm and general admission at 4pm with cars on track at 5pm for timed hot laps and racing will start at 6pm. General admission will be $35 for adults, $10 for kids between 6 and 16 years old and kids 5 years and under will be admitted for free. Pits will be $45.
