Story By: CHRIS MOORE / BROOKFIELD SPEEDWAY – BROOKFIELD, NY – On Fair Time. Brookfield Speedway comes back to life on Thursday, July 6. This time, stock car racing on the historic quarter-mile oval kicks off the Madison County Fair.
Brookfield Speedway’s revitalizing season continues with a Thursday night affair on the opening night of the Madison County Fair, which continues through Sunday, July 9.
New “It’s Brookfield Baby” speedway apparel will be on sale in the apparel trailer throughout the evening.
BDR Speed and Algonkin Motel have teamed for a points series for all divisions over the five-race schedule. The top-five drivers in points, with perfect attendance, will share in year-end awards.
The Crate 602 Sportsman headline the July 6 program with a $750 minimum top prize and $100 to start.
Walton, N.Y.’s Blaine Klinger leads the Crate 602 Sportsman standings by four points over Ballston Spa, N.Y.’s Derrick McGrew Jr. The pair have traded wins in the opening two events of the season.
Travis Green, Harry Shaffer, and Matt Richardson round out the top five.
Pro Stocks compete for $600 to win under Fonda and Utica-Rome rules. Street Stocks are welcome to compete under home track rules.
West Winfield, N.Y.’s Kenny Gates has topped the Pro Stock division feature in each of the first two events, leading Bret Belden and a pair of drivers – Gus Gould and Mike Keith – who are tied for third in the Pro Stock standings.
Keith Tesiero Jr. (DOHC) and T.J. Marlitt (SOHC) lead the Four Cylinder standings while Paul Holic paces the All-Star Slingshots and Ayden Goodier sits atop the Junior Slingshot standings.
For the July 6 event, all gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps beginning at 6 p.m. and racing follows at 7 p.m.
Grandstand Admission is $10 for Adults and Kids 8 and under get in FREE.
Pit Admission is $35 (ages 13 and up). Kids (ages 6-12) are $10 and Children 5 and under get in for $2.
Fair Admission is $5 and Children 5 and under get in FREE. Gates open at 11 a.m. for the fair.
