Story By: ROBBY KNOWLES / AIRBORNE SPEEDWAY – PLATTSBURGH, NY – Jessey Mueller made a statement in his return to Airborne Speedway with a dominant win in the Big Block/Small Block Challenge II 40-lap event.
The only yellow flag occurred inside the first five laps of the event, which featured a restart with Mueller and Tim Fuller. Mueller restarted from the inside, but quickly got his car back to the extreme outside, where he worked all night.
Mueller finish with a large margin of victory and Fuller finished a comfortable second. Jordan McCreadie completed the podium in third. Steve Bernier was the highest finishing small block modified with his fourth place finish and Chris Raabe completed the top five with his small block.
Dylan Rabtoy collected his first win of the season in the J & S Steel Sportsman division 25-lap feature event.
Rabtoy set sail from the front row and used an extended green flag run to pull away to a comfortable win.
Travis Bruno finished in the second position, while Jamy Begor charged to third. Jason Bruno and DJ Gonyo completed the top five.
The Hartson Total Opening Renegade division 25-Lao feature found Shawn Duquette collecting his fourth checkered flag of the season.
Duquette used the extreme inside of the track to make his way through the field. Brothers Josh and Tylor Terry finish second and third, respectively. Richie Turner and Nathaniel Guay completed the top five.
Three veterans of the Taylor Rental Street Stock division completed the top three positions on Saturday.
John-Michael Bresette scored his first win of the season over his cousin, Speedy Bresette. Speedy was closing in quickly, but ran out of time and settled for second.
Kenny Tourville finished in third after make two wild saves, while Caleb Tourville and Rick Doner rounded out the top five.
Mike Arnold picked up another Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman win. Dale Gonyo Sr. and Matthew Jordan completed the top three.
Racing action resumes next Saturday at 7 p.m. for Military Night and Sportsman Mechanics Races.
