Mods To Race For $4,000 Friday At Big Diamond; Fayash Memorial Races Highlight Night

Story By: BIG DIAMOND RACEWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – This Friday night, August 4th it is the annual Fayash Memorial Races at Big Diamond Speedway.
The Fayash Memorial races are a tribute to the Fayash family who have raced and supported Big Diamond Speedway throughout the years.
This week the Quandel Concrete Modifieds will go 25 laps with $4,000 going to the winner. Not to be left out, the USS Achey, Inc Crate 602 Sportsman will race for some extra cash as well with the winner of their 20-lap feature paying $1,157. Also racing for some extra money this week will be the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners paying $400 to the victor.
Nick Rochinski added his name to the winners list last Friday night with a dominating win over the competition in the Quandel Concrete 358 Modified division. It was Rochinski’s second career win at Big Diamond. With the extra money on the line this week, you can bet the competition will be on their game all looking to cash in and take home the $4,000 payday. Brett Kressley leads the way with three wins and is the current points leader. Mike Gular has been the hot driver recently and is always in the mix when the big money is on the line. On the opposite side is the driver of the No. 15G and 2-time winner this season, Duane Howard, who has uncharacteristically struggled over the past few weeks and will be looking to get back to his winning ways. Two drivers who had a bad night last Friday were Rick Laubach and Jeff Strunk and will be chomping at the bit to get back to the front along with Craig Von Dohren who has shown signs of coming out of a season long slump.
The USS Achey, Inc. Crate 602 Sportsman had a change at the top of the standings last week with Logan Watt taking over the points lead with a solid third-place finish. Jordan Henn was the leader going into Friday night but suffered an engine issue in his heat sidelining the No. 4R for the night. The feature saw Henn jumping into the No. 33 Skylar Sheriff car driven by rookie Jax Yohn but was an early DNF. This Friday, the Crates will all be chasing after the $1,157 first place prize.
The Big Creek Concrete Crate 602 Rookies will also be in action. Last week saw Jax Yohn win his fourth rookie feature of the season forcing him to graduate out of the Crate rookie class. This class has been as competitive as any class all season long.
In the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner division, the teams will be racing for $400 winners share. Points leader Chuck Fayash would like nothing better than to win this Friday in the race named for his family.
The Wingless Super Sportsman will be making their second visit of the season on Friday night. The last visit saw Cliff Brian Jr taking the win over a fast-closing Tony Jackson in a highly competitive feature.
