Short Track Super Series Set To Tackle Action Track USA Tuesday; Storylines, Stars & Sleepers

Story By: CHRIS MOORE / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – KUTZTOWN, PA – Race Day in Berks County!  Tuesday, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco adds another first to 2023, as the series heads to Action Track USA for the ‘Berks County Brawl.’

The quarter-mile oval hosts a non-points event on the Rent Equip/Party Central South Region.

The unique format rewards the winner of the ‘A-Feature’ with a $5,000 top prize, with 32 cars being paid out from an ‘A & B’ Feature.

 

THE STORYLINES

Modifieds hit the Action Track USA for the first time ever tonight, in what is sure to be a must-see event. The tight bullring has been hosting larger forms of racecars over the last couple of seasons, with the STSS Modifieds set to join tonight.

The top 16 cars following qualifying tonight will head to the 50-lap ‘A-Feature’ which pays $5,000 for the ‘Berks County Brawl.’ The next 16 cars (cars 17-32), head to the 20-lap ‘B-Feature’ which pays $1,000-to-win.

This exhibition-style event comes just one week before the next points-paying event for the South Region, as the STSS heads to New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway on Tuesday, August 8 for the ‘Dirty Jersey.’

 

THE STARS

In what is sure to be a wild race, Frenchtown, N.J.’s Billy Pauch Jr. stands above the rest on the favorites list. The ‘Kid’s Kid’ leads the South Region standings and competes weekly in the All-Pro SpeedSTR division at Action Track USA.

Bobby Hackel IV is fresh off the heels of a Sunday night victory in the Southern Tier of New York. The East Greenbush, N.Y., native will look to tackle another small racetrack and claim his first ever STSS victory.

Boyertown, Pa.’s Mike Gular has been on a hot streak in recent weeks in the Keystone State. Gular will look to continue that momentum and claim the historic event at Action Track USA.

 

THE SLEEPERS

While numerous drivers have a chance on the tight quarter-mile oval, Otisville, Pa.’s Corey Cormier continues to have a strong 2023 campaign. The runner-up to Hackel on Sunday night will look to do one better tonight.

Elmira, N.Y.’s Ajay Potrzebowski II is an STSS winner with the Crate 602 Sportsman in his career. Now the defending Outlaw Speedway (Dundee, N.Y.) champion looks to add a Modified win to his resume at a tough to tame oval like Woodhull (N.Y.) Raceway, where he makes his home on Saturday nights.

Oley, Pa.’s Duane Howard will return to STSS action on Tuesday night, looking to join the fun at Action Track USA. The veteran driver will look to return to STSS glory for the first time since 2017.

 

ALSO IN ACTION

The Winged 600 Sprints will also be on the card, following Action Track USA rules and procedures.

 

ON THE HORIZON

Next Tuesday, August 8, the STSS heads to New Egypt, N.J. for the ninth running of the ‘Dirty Jersey’ at New Egypt Speedway. The D-shaped oval hosts Round No. 3 of the Rent Equip/Party Central South Region. The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman join the program for Round No. 3 of the Belmont’s Garage South Region.
