Story By: BRIDGEPORT MOTORSPORTS PARK – SWEDESBORO, NJ – Matt Stangle took home the victory in the Modified invitational as part of the High Limit Sprint Car Series stop at Bridgeport Motorsports Park on Tuesday night.
The Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modifieds competed in a twenty-lap invitational event. Even though they were the last feature of the night, the track was in great shape with plenty of racing left on the High Banks.
Three F&L Door heat races were used to determine the redraw cars with Stan Frankenfield, HJ Bunting and Stangle winning the three qualifiers.
Davey Sammons was the race leader on lap one but Stangle raced into the lead off of turn following the race’s first caution. Sammons, Brandon Grosso, Billy Osmun III and Bunting raced in the top five for the first handful of laps.
Stangle raced away from the field. Grosso took second on a lap seven restart followed by Sammons, Osmun and Bunting.
Stangle raced away from the field. Grosso took second on a lap seven restart after a four car battle with Sammons, Osmun and Billy Pauch in his new Breast Cancer Awareness No.1.
Mike Gular raced just outside the top five through halfway before the red flag was needed for Anthony Tramontana’s Mo. 13T. All of the safety equipment and crew did their jobs and Tramontana escaped injury.
Back to green flag racing but Grosso now had Pauch challenging for position. The battle went on until the checkered flag with Stangle collecting his second win of the season at Bridgeport over Grosso, Pauch, Gular and Osmun. Bunting finished sixth over Danny Bouc, Neal Williams, Frank Cozze and Joseph Watson who rebounded for a top ten finish after an early laps race incident.
Doug Rose was well pleased with his final lap mid-week show of the season. “Brad, JP and Kyle were all great to work with,” Rose stated. Young Brady Rose and Colton Watson (son of 2023 champion, Jordan Watson) were able to join Rico in Victory Lane, even to the top of the wing! They are living their best lives!
With just one more race on the High Limit schedule for 2023, thoughts are quickly turning to the 2024 season. Without question, a High Limit return is expected.
