Story By: JIM CLARKE / BROCKVILLE ONTARIO SPEEDWAY – BROCKVILLE, ONT – Victory Lane photos have been taken and the winner’s cheques presented. Now that the checkered flags are safely tucked away, its time to start planning for the 2024 schedule at Brockville Ontario Speedway.
One of the first bits of Brockville biz heading into the new campaign is to introduce Surprenant Truck Shop as the title sponsor of the track’s 602 Crate Sprint Car division.
Like others before him, Marc Surprenant began his affiliation with the speedway as a race fan and then fielded a Mini Stock in 2019. Last year, he moved to the Crate Sprint Car racing ranks in partnership Ryan Hunsinger Racing and finished 9th in the final point standings in the No. 52, while his No. 17 car – run on a limited basis by former Sportsman-Modified track champion Chris Herbison – was 13th in the running order.

This will be a milestone season for track owners Paul and Cheryl Kirkland and the promotional team at ‘The BOS’, as they mark 30 years at the helm of the popular Saturday night showplace on Temperance Lake Road. Paul Kirkland says their 3-decade long motorsports adventure has flown by thanks to a partnership with some incredible people.
“We have people on our Saturday night team who have been with us since Cheryl and I took over the track in 1994,” Paul Kirkland explained. “That type of loyalty is rare in today’s society and we certainly appreciate the commitment and dedication that it takes to be part of our weekly program.”
Brockville Ontario Speedway staff has already started work on an exciting 2024 line-up that will see the return of the fan favourite regular divisions, as well as selected special events throughout the year; culminating in the running of the Northeast Fall Nationals.
