Story By: DAVE MEDLER / FULTON SPEEDWAY – FULTON, NY – Enthusiasm and excitement was high in the Fulton Speedway pits Saturday with over 80 cars hitting the speedway in preparation for this weeks Highbank Holdup Weekend highlighted by the Empire Super Sprints on Friday, and the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series on Saturday.
Friday, April 26 Strada Mia Italian Steak House Night will feature the methanol breathing, clay slinging, winged warriors Empire Super Sprints that annually draws the best 360 Sprint Car drivers from the Northeast, and Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Joining ESS will be the AmeriCU Credit Union Mod Lites, Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Hobby Stock and the E&V Energy Novice Sportsman. The Modifieds, Sportsman, and Four Cylinders will have practice sessions before their races on Saturday.
On Saturday, April 27 Jammer’s Sports Bar & Restaurant Night will see the horsepower unleashed when the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series invades the speedway for the ‘Highbank Holdup’ 60. Season points start for the DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman. They will be battling for a coveted starting spot in the prestigious Industrial Tire of CNY Sportsman Shootout 50 during the 38th Annual Outlaw 200 weekend on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 3-4-5. Also on Saturday, April 27 will be the first race for the RL Cleaners $1,000-to-win Four Cylinder Open four race series.
The 2023 Highbank Holdup DIRTcar 358 Modified Series had an impressive fifty-eight cars signed into the pits with Mat Williamson taking the win. Larry Wight, Amy Holland, Mike Mahaney, and Jimmy Phelps completed the top-five.
