Column: Super DIRT Week Spots & Big Paydays Await Super DIRTcar Racers During PA Double
Column By: MIKE WARREN / SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES – POTTSVILLE, PA – When the Super DIRTcar Series returns to Pennsylvania in June, two $10,000 checks and two Super DIRT Week lock-ins will be on the line.
The Series will return to Big Diamond Speedway, in Pottsville, PA, for the third straight year on Tuesday, June 4, and then make its debut at Selinsgrove Speedway on Wednesday, June 5.
For the first time this year, drivers will compete for a $10,000 payday and a guaranteed starting spot in Super DIRT Week’s Billy Whittaker Cars 200 (Saturday, Oct. 12) at both events.
Big Diamond Speedway has hosted the Super DIRTcar Series three previous times, each producing a different winner – Duane Howard in 2009, Matt Sheppard in 2022 and Anthony Perrego in 2023.
While this year will be the Super DIRTcar Series’ debut at Selinsgrove, five of the current full-time Series drivers ran a Big Block Modified race at the track last year. Alex Payne, a Rookie of Year contender this year, had the strongest performance of the five, finishing fourth.
Three others also finished in the top 10 – Mike Mahaney (seventh), Matt Sheppard (eighth) and Peter Britten (ninth). And Mike Trautschold finished 15th.
